does anyone have any idea where to find a boot like this? this one is from a 58 kelvinator, but i have heard that maybe a solid tub speed queen might work. does anyone have a parts list or list of numbers for an older speed queen? the upper hole has an inside dia of 2 to 2 1/8 inch and the bottom hole is 4 7/8 inside dia.

Hey there Chris -

I certainly wish I knew of a good sub - but alas I do not. I must say though that your '58 is just beautiful! I so am looking forward to hopefully seeing your machines soon.

I'm sure it is just me but your boot looks a little different in design than the boot from my '59. Maybe there was a design change?

Good luck on finding a replacement ~

Ben

PS - you should be receiving a package hopefully early next week with some goodies.

Chris that is one good looking machine you have there. That cabinet just gleams!! Finding that part may be a problem but I think checking with Mark is a great place to start.

its wonderful how photos cover up all the flaws. for the most part the machine is in great shape just a few issues. i did send a mail to mark (thats who the machine came from) to see if he had any boots. so ill keep my fingers crossed. and lookin forward to seein ben when he gets to st louis. and if patrick or terry were here id put them to work ha ha

Hey Chris - that's a beautiful machine and where there's a will, there's a way to get it going again.

The Speed Queen boot may work, they are a little softer and more pliable than the original Kelvinator boot though so you may have to adjust the snubber bolts a little tighter than the original specs call for.

If you call Larry at Modern Parts in Parma, OH I would bet he has SQ boots on the shelf. The p/n is 20129, but he'll know that from memory ;-)

Good luck - can't wait to see it's maiden wash.

hey greg i called larry he has one so thats on its way... and as for a lid im still beggin greg m for one.. id anything in trade for a glass lid.. well almost ha ha oh what the hell yea i would.. well give me a week or so and will see if i cant get this water leak fixed

id anything in trade for a glass lid..

Chris you could also simply have a piece of plexiglass cut at the hardware store that fits into the opening of the lid area so you can watch the machine agitate with the lid open without getting drenched.

i think greg may have a whole lid so will see.. ha ha what i meant to say was id do almost anything for a lid.. ha ha well almost. you guys are so cool for the info and i cant wait to get her runnin again and not have to worry about a waterfall on my feet. give me a few weeks and well be back with pics
