Pastor Haggard: Part II

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

They are calling it a "restoration"

CNN this morning names James Dobson and two other pastors who will be handling Haggard's "restoration"

Haggard is in the hands of three guys who don't have a flippin clue!!!

I really do not think that James Dobson is a good man. He spreads hatred and bigotry just like the rest. I listen to him speak on the radio a couple times per week, just to hear what he is saying.

If gay people that think that their church is accepting would come out to them, I think they would find that they are not accepting to the gay community at all. As long as gays are undercover, its fine. But if the church finds out that you are gay, and are active, they will either try to "fix" you, or shun you.
Gays will not be treated, or looked upon in the same light as the rest of the church community.

Restoration? Oh good lord

See-whaddideyetellu? He will soon be cured of this horrible affliction. UUUUuuuuuuuurrrrrrppppppppp. Please go fetch me a bottle of Pepto. I am most certain to be sick.

I can see it now-Haggard is in front of a screen with electric wires attached to his winky. Every time a pic of a hot guy appears on the screen, Dobson turns on the juice.

(giggle) I feel better now!

All good points

There's some great input here. And Mike Jones is a hero in my book.

You all got the God does not make junk in his creation correct. Gays and lesbians are not discluded from all creation.

But what is missing for Mr Haggard and his entourage is the most fundamental point Jesus made in his teachings on what God thinks of his creation: Most of all God cannot abide hypocrits.
You can tell yourself a lie and live a lie in error; but you have to decide to be a hypocrite!

That's the real damage to Mr. Haggard's relation to God and his "congregation". To try to lead with Hypocracy, wow thats a biggie!

And I will add this

THE ONLY TIME I HAVE EVER BEEN DISCRIMINATED FOR MY SEXUALITY WAS WHEN I WAS FIRED ON CHRISTMAS EVE FOR BEING A GAY BARTENDER IN A STRAIGHT BAR THAT WAS RUN BY A MARRIED MAN WITH TWO KIDS WHO WAS SLEEPING WITH ONE OF THE MALE WAITERS I WORKED WITH!

Real Straight people find no issue in homosexuality, they are very busy in their heterosexuality!

Thats how you can tell a real straight person from a closet case hypocrite!

On one hand, that's a shame.

On the other, if that's the only time you were discriminated against, maybe you're luckier than you realize!

Closets are for GOWNS, darling......

THE ONLY TIME I HAVE EVER BEEN DISCRIMINATED FOR MY SEXUALITY .....

I have lost a job or two, been denied housing, etc.

But you have not lived till your parents have disowned you. And I quote... "Why do you want to throw your life away? Why go to college? Just become a hair-dresser like the rest of them". That which does not kill us, strengthens us. G-d only gives everyone as much as they can handle. This ain't for "sissies". If I could take a pill and make "it" go away, I would NOT. It give FAR too much insight into the human mind-set and condition.

Perhaps Mr. Haggard needs to realize, no matter where you go, you can't run away from your (true) self.

How does the song go?
"There are some things you can't cover up with lipstick and powder.."

wow

Toggle those are very powerful words!
I agree with you 100% too.

I wouldn't change myself either, not for one second. I would not be the person I am, and I like the person I am today.

I doubt Reverend Haggard will ever like himself, or be confortable in his skin.

That is what's truly sad about the whole Haggard debacle. He'll never, ever be able to be comfortable with himself within the Evangelical church. It's also too bad his revelation has to be played up as this horrible, sinful, evil thing. It just exaggerates the boogeyman aspect of it all.

Again: Where is the reason and rationality in all this? It's what frustrates me about religion. It just doesn't make sense.

.."and God created man(kind) in his image."

NOT---

"Mankind created G-d in his (ideal)image", is closer, I'd say.

Ever see a Korean Icon where Mother Mary looks Korean? (Christianity is relitively new to Koreans, esp. when they come here.)

UHM she was probably Middle-eastern in apprearance, if anything.

I highly recommend...

Eugene have you read "A Letter to a Christian Nation" yet by Sam Harris? I just finished it a few weeks ago; any of Sam Harris' books is absolutely worth the time. You sit there the whole time reading it saying "yes, Yes, YES where have you been all my life"! Actually it’s a short book only 90 pages long, I read it on the stair-master at the gym over the course of a couple of workouts. I got unusually great workouts those days because it really gets your blood pumping.

Co inky dinkily when I was in the Village de Valu the other day there was a framed picture I would assume most people would immediately think of as Jesus. The long flowing robe, the blue eyes, the long luxurious blond hair and pious visage. No halos or anything but then even if there was...well when I see all those people on CNN out there in the holy land I don't see any fair skinned blue eyed blonds. Which got me to thinking even further LOL... what if the real Jesus looked more akin to Danny DeVito with a tan.

It boggles my mind

that at this time in history, a man of God could preach against the most essential aspect of his being. HOW DO THEY DO IT ? really? You can't believe how utterly incomprehensible it is to me. I really do not get it!

Did you see the clip of him on the weekend sitting in his car grinning with his thousand dollar. each, porcelain veneers on every tooth. How many collection plates did he steal to get them. In the clip, he admits to buying--but then throwing out-- Chrystal Meth, CHRYSTAL METH !! Are You kidding me? Second only to heroin and crack, it's as low as you can go. Where are we, when the pope of the fundamentalists is a meth head. I'm really laughing now; it's just too bizzare.

Partscounter man and other Easy people, would you please check out my pix on the Vintage Thread. It was real agony learning how to do it, and I'd be sad if I did it for nothing.

Mickey, you answered your own question: They do it because they've got to keep those tithing boxes full, and there's lots of angry people out there looking for someone to tell them it's OK to hate.

That's not true of all religions, or even most religions - just the spiritually lazy religions that ask nothing of you but to support the church: no introspection, no questioning, no (that I can see) connection with God. Just regurgiation of whatever is fed to you.

If you ask me, the class act in the religions in the Amish. The way they handled that horrible tradgedy that befell them in Pennsylvania was truly inspiring.

People who get married ,man or woman, and know that they are gay ahead of time but deny it are a product of the people around them. Most likely unaccepting.

This is why we need to accept people from early on for ALL that they are. How many mothers or fathers thought they were "doing the right" thing by discouraging their children from certain behaviors either because it made them uncomfortable or because they felt society wouldn't accept the child. Well intentioned maybe, selfish perhaps.

People usually want to please their parents but they will eventually be themselves. Sometimes that means expressing themselves in 'inconvenient' or totally inappropriate ways, such as pedophelia. (Most pedophelias are hetero men, not gay as certain people would try and convince you.)

Who knows Haggards family backround

I'm impressed with the show of concern here for the young family members who will have to deal with their fathers reality. It is said that kids tend to be the most resilient.

Danny

I forgot--it's just business. You're right: fill the collection box. Its just big business religion, having little to do with love, Jesus, God, or the spirit, and those of us who really believe in spirit really have no home, except here at Automatic Washer. Let's start a new religion, with no materialism like the blessed Amish. We get to keep our washers just as they keep their horses and buggies. I bet they'd love us especially the wringer contingent of the club.

Actually, I've been to visit the Amish, and the way they do their wash is true old-school! They have the Maytag wringer-washers, some are hooked up to these Honda engines, and everything's hung out by hand!

They really have an amazing way of life down there, in this age.

In sadder news:

A pastor committed suicide last night, in the wake of another sex probe:
