Pastor Haggard: Part II

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Rickr...yeah, that's what I'm grappling with right now.

Brettsomers.....I can just imagine. I had to CANCEL Thanksgiving dinner this year because I could just SEE the fireworks being piled up, waiting to be ignited...

It's unbelievable, the tension that builds up.

I think that there are two important points to be learned from this episode and they are two things that should be published in some way whenever the hate level increases:

Any time the X-gay ministries or any other merchants of hate try to push the hogwash that by accepting Jesus, gays and lesbians will be turned into heterosexuals, Haggart's name should be introduced with the question, "If he was such a great preacher that he could rise to the head of his national organization, why could he not heal himself?" Also, if homosexuality is such a horrible sin, why did not any of these religious experts see it in his life? How did they allow themselves to be led by a homosexual?

Second: Everytime an anti-gay hate monger stands up and makes some judgement against gays and lesbians, the analogy should be made to Haggard and several other ministers who were always bring down eternal damnation on gays and lesbians, while being homosexual themselves. Once it becomes established practice that everyone who is so vigorously anti-gay is probably a closet case himself, I think the loud preaching will be quieted a bit.

It seems like the "hate" that Pastor Haggard is said to have
pushed is really VERY high amoungst many toward him.Pity.I pray that he is fully restored.Actually, he never spoke HATEFULLY about the gays or any other group for that matter, but has been known to be a kind and gentle man.No, I don't condone his sin,but I don't condemn him either, and I am NOT happy about his fall. He may have slipped more than once, but I believe he fought against those "urges" also. And just because he preached what the Bible says on the subject does not mean that he did it hatefully. If a preacher,or anyone else preaches that losing your temper is a sin gets mad at his wife one day and snaps at her, should he stop preaching that it is wrong ?Of course not.Anyhow,if we want love in this world, let's love him too.Not what he's done, but the person, for Jesus loves ALL of us unconditionally.

ROFLMAF!!!

I think that I will have to cancel the Fort Wayne newspaper, and start getting whatever newspaper you are getting Robert.
Your paper makes more sense, and makes me laugh too!!

Thank's for posting yours! *GRIN*

I don't have as much of a problem with someone deluding themselves with "fairy tales and fables" as I do with them forcing their superstitions and bigotry on an entire nation by attempting to unify their religion with our state. The irony is the outright hostility shown toward those who do not share their views by those who loudly proclaim to come in the name of a man of peace, understanding and love.

Baptist church

Did'nt the Baptist church boycott Disney Land a few years back?..best I remember Disney's pocket book did'nt get lighter. I'm not a big fan of Wally world..simply because I perfer to trade (as much as possible) with the mom and pop stores and the customer service is so much better. But I'll have to think some good thoughts about Wal-Mart...at least there tring to do right.

News Flash!

James Dobson on Larry King tonite! Let's see him try to promote the ex-gay movement despite the fact that one of the Christian industry's biggest talking heads (Haggard) couldn't make it happen in his own life!

ha ha ha

This is going to sound cruel, and this is from an Atheistic standpoint, but I do NOT feel sorry for him. I feel very bad for his wife and kids and the hell they are going through. But I have NO remorse for him. First of all, he's a bigoted right wing conservative fundamentalist Bible thumper. And in my book, anyone who can be categorized as that deserves nobody's respect.
Secondly, he is clearly a hypocrite with his anti-gay crap...and then all of a sudden, we find out he's having secret flings with men. Idiot. He deserves everything he gets. This goes right along with the whole Senator Foley thing. They're both losers.

If there's ever a time to say "Practice what you preach" it's now.

--let the flaming begin--

John, I don't think you're being cruel. It's correct, to stand up against hypocrisy.

Recently, I took a VERY unpopular position to decline any invites to occasions by relatives and friends of relatives, etc., who do not denounce anti-gay initiatives. It hurts, but what can I do?

How can I attend a wedding, baptism, adoption ceremony, etc., in good conscience and celebrate with you when you and yours would deny my partner and myself the right to do the same?

I wonder if there's any truth to the rumor that Haggard's become a Crystal Methodist??

(apologies in advance to the "Hallelujah Corner"...)

I was watching an interview with the good "doctor" Dobson (the one who believes that you need to pinch your children and take your son in the shower with you to show him who's boss). He said that Haggard's "restoration" will take 3-5 years, and that during that time, three men will be in charge of "every facet of his life", including his money.

It sounds like the premise of an S&M novel to me. Or, they're keeping somebody quiet by providing hush money while trying to salvage that shopping mall in Colorado Springs that they call, with all apparent seriousness, a church.

I'm not religious, but I have a lot of respect for the truly religious folk who "do the Lord's work". But Dobson, Haggard, and the rest of their ilk are just scammers, catering to people's fears and prejudices, and calling it faith.

watched the Larry King interview about five days ago. Dobson claims he and Haggard were and continue to be friends. King asked him when's the last time they spoke. Dobson said "since the story broke", or something like that. How much you wanna bet Dobson dropped him like a hot potato?

Please email me if you know anything about or have had negative interactions with Dobson's latest fresh face, the virulently homophobic columnist/talk show host Kevin McCullough.

Thanks!
