Married Under Pressure

Many young men, myself included, would not have married if I had known I was gay or what it really was and meant. It is wrong to believe EVERY man who comes out after marriage intended to decieve or was shotgunned to the altar. It might be helpful if we were required to have lived at least two years, on our own or be over 25 before marriage so we knew better, who we are.

As a proud and out gay man, I have a difficult time relating to people in the closet. but, I am not an advocate of outing people unless they are in positions of power and advocate an anti gay agenda. Ted Haggard is the epitomy of hypocrisy and in my view a despicable human being. I admire the courage of Mike Jones. My big concern right now is Florida, my home state. The citizens of Florida have elected a closeted, anti gay Governor. His name is Charlie Crist. He opposes gay marriage, gay adoption and supports to amend the constitution to ban same sex marriage. Go to this very informative website. www.blogactive.com..and learn more about other hypocrites serving in Washington...Ken Mehlman,Sen Larry Craig etc..
Have fun guys!

Bill Maher was quite entertaining and last week on the subject of Rev. Haggard, causing some controversy with some of his remarks, as usual, concerning Haggard's church. "A megachurch is presided over by the same skeevy door-to-door bible salesman that we've always had, just with better technology..."

I heard on the radio that Haggard's "rehabilitaion" is estimated to last somewhere between three-and-a-half and five years.

I'll never understand this "conversion therapy" idiocy. What are they going to do? Attach electrodes to his yachtobeh, show him old Joey Stefano flicks, and increase the voltage until he doesn't respond anymore?

It is ok to be openly gay in the Episcopal Church. A few years ago, Gene Robinson, an openly gay bishop was ordained Bishop of New Hampshire and caused quite a stir. I have always been welcome in any parish I attended but I also was careful.
If one is "called" to the priesthood or ministry, I would expect to see honesty on their part. I see some of the fundamentalists who are anti-gay and yet, they have indulged themselves and either had gay affairs or messed around with other women. I know that clergy like to think of themselves as human as anyone else but I believe their calling should include exemplary behavior on their part.
In my lifetime, I have met good priests and bad. But certainly hate is not something that should be preached by a member of clergy.

"Conservative" Christians are planning a boycott of Wal-Mart because of the company "helping to further the radical homosexual agenda."

Wal-Mart resisted the efforts of the American Family Assn. to pull Brokeback Mountain from their shelves when it was released and their corporate mouthpiece made some interesting comments in this article. Perhaps these fanatical nuts will finally realize that their own agenda of exclusion, discrimination and outright hatred are really getting them nowhere and although they may have small victories now and then, they really cannot legislate their religious beliefs. Could they be more deluded? Oh wait....

Not just the mega-churches that are full of bigotry....

This article was in our morning paper the other day, so clipped it out.
It's really so "kind and understanding", the way the catholic church is "reaching out" to the gay community. Looks like if I were to "sit in the back of the bus" and "keep my place" I could be welcomed back to the church.....

But then on the other hand I can just say....F-ck um.

And that feels so much better....

Rickr...yeah, that's what I'm grappling with right now.

Brettsomers.....I can just imagine. I had to CANCEL Thanksgiving dinner this year because I could just SEE the fireworks being piled up, waiting to be ignited...

It's unbelievable, the tension that builds up.

I think that there are two important points to be learned from this episode and they are two things that should be published in some way whenever the hate level increases:

Any time the X-gay ministries or any other merchants of hate try to push the hogwash that by accepting Jesus, gays and lesbians will be turned into heterosexuals, Haggart's name should be introduced with the question, "If he was such a great preacher that he could rise to the head of his national organization, why could he not heal himself?" Also, if homosexuality is such a horrible sin, why did not any of these religious experts see it in his life? How did they allow themselves to be led by a homosexual?

Second: Everytime an anti-gay hate monger stands up and makes some judgement against gays and lesbians, the analogy should be made to Haggard and several other ministers who were always bring down eternal damnation on gays and lesbians, while being homosexual themselves. Once it becomes established practice that everyone who is so vigorously anti-gay is probably a closet case himself, I think the loud preaching will be quieted a bit.

It seems like the "hate" that Pastor Haggard is said to have
pushed is really VERY high amoungst many toward him.Pity.I pray that he is fully restored.Actually, he never spoke HATEFULLY about the gays or any other group for that matter, but has been known to be a kind and gentle man.No, I don't condone his sin,but I don't condemn him either, and I am NOT happy about his fall. He may have slipped more than once, but I believe he fought against those "urges" also. And just because he preached what the Bible says on the subject does not mean that he did it hatefully. If a preacher,or anyone else preaches that losing your temper is a sin gets mad at his wife one day and snaps at her, should he stop preaching that it is wrong ?Of course not.Anyhow,if we want love in this world, let's love him too.Not what he's done, but the person, for Jesus loves ALL of us unconditionally.
