Looking at this patent, it appears that the rubber flapper is HUGE! By comparison, the Philco machines that have been found of this model design have little, tiny rubber flappers, more like nubulators, compared to this drawing. Does that mean that the rubber, tho' maybe rigid, got worn down that much with use? Or did Philco change the design from the big flapper in earlier model runs to the nubulator? Or was it the patent-dream that the flapper be that big and the design was found not to be as effective as the nubulator?

I've never heard the term nubulator before, did you make that up? The rubber disk seems to be sitting up pretty high. Maybe that sized one created a tsunami when washing!
