I just had, & I mean 5 minutes ago, an older Vietnamese lady just walk into the corner of my parking lot. She was just outside my camera's viewing angle. I walk out and she had just cut around the side of my building. Here, she PEE'D IN MY DARN PARKING LOT. Like right in my lot against my building. I quickly went around the other side and she was coming from between the neghbor's garages. I asked her if she just did that. She didn't speak english well, but she said no no. UNBELIEVABLE!

In The Lady's Defence:

I have to wonder what facilities were available to her that she might have chosen besides what she did choose. Here in America, we do a very poor job of making restrooms available, and then we complain when someone gets so desperate that they resort to something like this. Even when restrooms are present in public places, they're often closed down as maintenance headaches, especially during times of budgetary cutbacks.

It's hardest of all on the poor. Many of us can go into a convenience store and pick up a can of pop to "justify" our use of a restroom, but the homeless often get chased out of such places.

In Europe, such thngs are managed a bit better, but even there, I see newspaper stories that tell me it's not a perfect situation. Men are often accomodated with outdoor facilities, but women get much less availability of the facilities they need.

You'd think after six thousand years of civilisation, we'd have invented some way to deal with this - after all, it's a problem that is not going away!

P.S.:

Todd:

Nothing I said was intended to excuse the situation or to downplay the problem this lady's actions caused for you. It's just that we need to give people a way to answer Nature's call without resorting to what she did.

In 2002 I was manager of a Natwest Bank branch in Crowborough East Sussex.

On a Monday we would have to wash out the ATM vestibule which was next to the front door. This area was created when they permenantly opened the original oak door of the bank and created a vestible area about 8x6' with a new branch door to the side....

Every Monday it would stink of stale urine so we decided to watch the CCTV footage of the ATM only to discover it was one of our own female customers. The absolute look of horror on her face when I mentioned that we had caught her on film was just amazing....

Didn't happen again...

I can't find a new pic, but here is one of the building in about 1900. You can see the sandstone arch for the orginal door just to the right of the low stone wall.

And disrespectful pigs at that!

My parish has a shrine to the Blessed Mother next to our Church. Each year we have a carnival as a fund-raiser. The Sunday of the carnival I parked by the shrine on my way to Mass. I spotted something on the grass: A SOILED DIAPER! Obviously left by some slob attending the carnival the night before. Furious, I wrapped it in paper toweling (always in my trunk) and put it in my car to dispose of at home. During Mass I had to chuckle to myself: It's not like St. Mary didn't have her share of nasty diapers to deal with!

Still, pretty disgusting.

In Florida,Baltimore and Texas, there are cameras at every nook and cranny to record any going ons there. From drug deals to sexual activities being practiced in allyways, sidewalks and street corners. A friend of mine in Orlando had to take a horse piss from drinking a few beers. His action was videotaped and the local cop saw it all. She came to where he was waliking to his car and arested him for unruly conduct and exposing himself. The judge fined him $1,000 and 4 weeks of public service. Otherwise,3 years in prison.Nonetheless,he paid the fine and did his services.

There are things worse than pee...

In San Francisco, on Market street, they've had problems with homeless people not only urinating but defecating on the sidewalk and in doorways. Mind you, Market Street is the MAIN street in SF.

When I lived in Berkeley in the 70's, there was a "free box" outside my building. One homeless woman took to sleeping in it - with her three little dogs. You could smell this crazy woman a half block away.

When the free box became a dumping ground for people wanting to get rid of trash, and after a sofa was left out in the rain for a month or two, I wrote some letters to the mayor and the city finally removed it for good. Crazy lady had vacated by then.

In Mexico - especially in border towns or businesses along the highways, it's the norm for guys to handle their #1 needs by ducking behind the nearest building and using the wall. Many of the restroom toilets there are usually filthy and/or stopped up so it's safer not to use them unless you're truly desperate. No idea how the ladies handle their needs in that regard. Maybe their toilets are cleaner.

As danemodsandy said,

"Here in America, we do a very poor job of making restrooms available, and then we complain when someone gets so desperate that they resort to something like this."

Other countries have more public toilets available. I took the shot below last Sunday in Kyoto, Japan. To be honest it's the only open toilet I've ever seen in Japan, and is located on the grounds of a temple so it probably isn't subject to the rules a public toilet would normally meet. I'm not sure what the ladies do though!

I was a manager for Macy's for a couple of years. My first department was dresses and suits (go figure) The things that we saw in the fitting rooms were unbelievable. Women are PIGS!! Piles of dresses thrown on the floor and walked over, and on several occasions, PEE'd on! Used pads tossed on the floor or stuck on the walls. Absolutley disgusting!!!!!

Sandy, I agree about the lack of facilities. But, she could have walked into my open door & asked to use my restroom. I never object because I know how it is. The big thing to me was that the elementary school next to me was letting out and there were kids walking by everywhere. They usually run through my lot playing with each other. It's not like she was really hidden from view. Anyone driving by could've seen her. If my building looked abandoned I could've understood, but she walked right by my delivery truck.

*FEH*

I pushed pumps for a living in college a la al Bundy...er I mean sold shoes. Lingerie dept was next door.

There was human dump in the fitting rooms as well as the above-listed sights.

Someone had a lingerie fetish and would leave his DNA sample on the product.

One time a man left his mark the same way on Macy's window on 34th Street in Manhattan . Amazingly, very few noticed or made a stir ans he was whipping it up. The police did not find it amusing. (Except when the senior officers forced the rookie to grab they guy's hands to handcuff the perp).

Women AND men are pigs.

You're a lot more enlightened than a lot of business owners! Many either do not "know how it is" or they just figure that "how it is" is good enough for "those people." The world needs more people like you. I'm sorry that this woman made a choice she didn't have to make, and that it affected you negatively. If it helps, you could think of it as a case of someone who has been mistreated by others so long that it didn't even occur to her that she might ask you for the use of your facilities, and get treated well.

Incidentally, my own pet peeve is people in upscale surroundings who treat a restroom as if it was in a filthy gas station - which is then the kind of restroom it turns into. I once worked for a company at One Buckhead Plaza, a very upscale Atlanta building. Restrooms were immaculate in the morning, and serviced a couple of times a day. But guys who refused to flush (because the handle might have germs, and because they damn well weren't going to wash their hands or anything sensible like that), or wouldn't stand close to the urinals (because the last guy didn't flush it) or who threw paper towels on the floor (didn't want to touch the trash can lid), turned it into a pigsty within an hour or so.

I have much more sympathy for homeless people who do what they gotta do in the absence of facilities than I do for so-called "nice" people who refuse to use a clean facility properly. Stand close, use, flush, wash hands, throw paper towel away in the trash can - what's so difficult about that?

You know sometimes it is not all that it seems, during my late fathers battle with prostate cancer. He could not wait to relieve himself. We did keep a plastic urinal in the car. and adult disposable underwear sometimes his signals got mixed esp. when he was very sick. There are many quickstop type places that do not offer the public a bathroom it is marked private/ employees only. Sometimes you gotta go, gotta go right now. Now those situations described above in dressing rooms and issues with feminine hygiene products, are totally uncalled for.

My dad has the similar issue after colon cancer. Less storage room = more urgency & less grace-time.

Couple nights ago I found an abandoned infant's onesie besotted with crap shoved behind a back row of seats, with a rolled-up disposable diaper. I previously mentioned the woman years ago taking a wizz between a row of seats AFTER a show had let out. Dippers' spit cups also aren't much nice, 'specially when kicked over, contents running down the floor.

Oh my..Take a shower

too much time on my hands and im at work... good sign no crazys are peeing in the elevator or doing the tango in a bathroom stall or choping and snorting tide on the bathroom counter...
