Persil Laundry Detergent

Ok, so thanks to Jerome and as I promised. I ordered some Persil laundry detergent. First load. I filled the cap all the way and I am doing a medium load. So far lots of suds. The scent is strong, like flowers are growing out the machine LOL. I will see the results. I have a few grease stand towels in there. So this will be a great test on stain removal, grease removal, and fragrance.

And oh, checking again after so more agitation time- the suds have about doubled from the picture uploaded here.

So far so good!

Which version are you using? I'm using their new advanced clean version in the ultra pacs and they smell really good better than tide.

We use the Oxy Persil. Don't like the other scents anyhow.

I am using intense fresh version. It was the cheapest at $10.92. To be frank I should have gotten the deep clean version as the scent on this version Persil is very strong.

Just of observation the current load feels much rougher than with Tide, like it needs softner. I am now wondering why that is.

Purcell always made too many subs for me and I stopped using it. And I have somewhat to fairly hard water

We used Persil Oxi for a long time. Worked great, smelled good, and left clothes softer than Tide liquids. But clothes developed an odd body odor type smell after being washed. It was worse as they sat longer. One wash with Tide eliminated the issue. I have not gone back.

I see Kyle! We usually use the steam cycle and add Lysol sanitizer. I do notice that certain polyester fabrics have that odor regardless though.

Polyester seemed to be the biggest culprit, but it occurred on all items. Even washing in sanitize cycle would still result in the odor. I use Dirt Labs booster as well, so I have low suspicion it is an issue of body oil or remaining soil.

Polyester and certain man made fibers not only are hydrophilic (love oil) but also tend to hang onto body whiff. This explains why sports kit and similar gear or even just normal garments made from such fibers (or even blends) may come out of the wash and still have bit of pong, especially once one begins perspiring.

You want laundry products with high solvent/surfactant action and or perhaps certain enzymes to tackle whiff in your kit. This is especially important since these fabrics are washed at low temps.
Then there are things such pre-soaking in vinegar/water solution and or using baking soda.

Detergents of old such as Ariel liquid and Surf (powder or liquid) claimed to cope with whiffy laundry. But that may have been cottons or other natural fibers. Not sure about man made fibers.

I used to use that same Persil. While I did liked that stuff, the last jug I bought was terrible. It was so sudsy even though it was HE and I was putting in the correct amount. Personally, I liked the All Original Sunshine Fresh from Henkel better. It's too bad it got discontinued along with Tide Mountain Spring which is one of the reasons why I switched back to using powder.

If it were an issue with body oil, why would it resolve when switching detergent? Mind you, this issue did not occur with using Cheer liquid either. I’m still convinced it is an issue with Persil.

Same, except in the ultra pacs, combined with snuggle super fresh fabric softener. It has a combined pleasant scent.

I've noticed that clothes do come out feeling rougher with Persil than Tide. Not sure the reasoning. Perhaps tide is more of a soap and the residual at the end of the cycle makes the clothes feel softer?

Another thing I've noticed is that Persil does not seem to rinse away as well as Tide. I see more suds in the final rinse water be it a cold or warm rinse.

However, cleaning is great and worth it IMO. At and $10 per bottle you are certainly getting your money's worth. For the same price I've used Tide Simply and it does not clean ANYWHERE as well as Persil.

I am going to stick to Persil for non stained and low muck loads from now one.

The Tide was the case. I switched to Persil.

Jerome, I am liking Persil so much now I bought another bottle.



I plan on buying other versions of Persil just to try them out. Potent concentrated detergent that gives great results in my Speed Queen top load washer.

A lot of those detergents aimed at eliminating odours, particularly from sports gear, do it with more sophisticated enzyme cocktails to breakdown some of the odour causing issues for example phosphodiesterase is sometimes included.
