Persil Ultra Konzentrat Color Liquid

I saw this detergent online by chance a few months ago.
Then, there was Amazon Prime Day last week and it was on offer, so I ordered some.

This detergent somewhat confused me.
I did not see it anywhere in stores yet, and you can only get the 2 bottle set online, not single bottles.
Usual price is 33€ for 130 loads, I got it 10€ cheaper.

Dosages are really small, only 20ml for a typical load.

The bottles are kind of like oversized dish soap bottles.
And it looks really darkly tinted, looks way bluer once poured out.

I like the dosage cap though.

I dosed 35ml for a typical darks load, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of sweat pants and 3 sweat jackets.

It didn't suds all that much and rinsed quite well.
The cycle I used was a darks cycle that runs rinses that are 10+min long, so it still did suds some in the second rinse, but the water was basically clear at that point.

I have a pretty heavy cold at the moment, but what I could smell was a pretty neutral, but really fresh scent.

Over all, not bad, and since I got it on offer, 18 cents per load isn't expensive at all for a quality detergent.

I had no idea this exists - although I admittedly haven't used Persil in many years. Both DM and Müller drugstore seem to carry this product online only, in a pack of two.

I usually go for powder aswell, and rarely Persil.

But I had a coupon by DM for that specific detergent in the app one day.
So I looked around for it - and you really can only find the double pack online.
No where in stores, no where single bottles.

The high concentration is touted as more eco-friendly on the packaging, which makes sense due to lower transport emissions.

I further think this format could be great for automatic dosing systems since the bottles are about the size of most of these systems tanks AND a single filling will last much longer.

And compared to the other Persil liquids I remember, this does not suds beyond belief with recommended dosing.
Also rinses much better than I remember of other Persil liquids.

There's really no need for immense amounts of water with liquid laundry detergent products. Going "ultra" at some point does mean moving towards a more viscous product which can affect dosing.

Liquid, gels, pods and even paste forms of laundry detergent are all out there.

Ariel of course had and still has their gel detergent.

It's not on Persil's German homepage, either. They have only uploaded a video to their YouTube... and that was almost a year ago. Strange.

I suppose it should be dosed over the detergent drawer and thus it has a rather low (watery) viscosity, which again would make it ideal for automatic dosing systems?

For manual dosing I wouldn`t be too fond of the measuring cup which apparently needs to be rinsed out after use, the regular one of Persil where the remains just drop back into the bottle seems more practical to me.

That is true, needing to rinse it out is kind of a drawback.

But it has at least proper, easy to read markings every 5ml which most liquids lack.

You get some, you loose some I guess...

It is surprisingly not to thick though.

Not "gel" like Ariels low temp liquid used to be.
Not watery either, though. Along the lines of Perwoll I would say.

Something too thick starts getting into gel territory then there will be problems using washer's dispenser drawer. More so I shouldn't wonder with today's machines that take on very little water to wash for most cycles compared to past.

Way around that would be various devices such as what Ariel and others come up with both for gel and liquid formats.





Personally rather fancy these dosing devices for liquid or gel detergents. Got one when purchased Ariel Excell gel (Alpine Fresh) and never looked back. Keeps dispenser nice and clean...

Of course for a dosing device to be of any use it must hold enough product for maxium recommended amount.

Consider size difference between Ariel Automatic liquid's " Arielette" and later Excel dosage cap.





Those dosing balls of old came in quite a range. P&G had them for Fairy as well besides Ariel. Both of which are collectors items and can go for dear money if found.

Snap is from Electron1100's collection IIRC.

Thing is with dosing devices for some strange reason in Europe one had to ring up P&G or whoever to get one it seems. This or ask at point of purchase to be given. In USA scoops or whatever dosing device needed with a detergent normally comes with product.

Thus if this new Persil were to need a dosing device Henkel would have to travel down that well trodden path. Another point in favor of keeping product more liquid then gel so can be used without dosing device in washer's dispenser.

The whole dispenser vs drum debate goes back to old school machines which could "waste" a considerable amount if liquid if it was doses in the drawer before starting the cycle by flushing it straight into the pump.

Same of course with powder, but that would still need more time to flush in, making the waste less.

The whole no dosing aid thing is touted as an Eco thing aswell.
Especially since most powders come in carton packing, and most people have a dosing device, they were just seen as waste.

You can get the dosage devices for completely free though - that's actually part of some regulation that they can't charge you anything for them, not even shipping.

Well pods were supposed to be another answer to dispenser versus dosing device debate, but think they've not quite fulfilled their promise.

It's never no more in this house far as detergent pods are concerned. Once current stash is gone that's it. Am that tired of picking bits of plastic goo off washing from pods that didn't dissolve. Yes, one has tried everything; under loading, placing in drum before wash, placing on top of loaded wash... Maybe in top loaders things are different.

The St. Croix pods one snips open and dispenses liquid into Ariel Excel gel device. Persil pods are for use in Maytag wringer or tub washing.

Overall have found dispensing liquid or gel detergents via in drum device seems to have kept dispenser drawer on both the Miele and AEG quite clean. Rarely use fabric softener so that's one other liquid not seen in dispenser.

Launderess, you could use the net thing from the picture in reply #10 you posted (middle row on the left), or just an old sock, a small laundry net or similar to use up the rest of your pods stash.
As long as they don`t get a chance to get caught in the door boot there won`t be a problem with undissolved bits of plastic goo.

Biggest issue I had with Pods was the simple incompatibility with Mieles PowerWash.

I currently have Vanish tabs (basically pressed Vanish powder cubes) that I got on offer, aswell from Amazon.
I tend to put them in a sock when I use them. Work beautifully.
