I give up!!
I know I have had enough problems with Tide He powder concentrate and rinsing, but now the Persils universal powder is doing the same thing, everytime I wash towels I get a suds and rinsing problem.I'm not overloading, six large bath towels in a load and it's a duet 3.8 capacity,I'm not overdosing, one not completely full two teaspoon coffee scoop for the load, warm water wash and cold rinse, nothing seems to work anymore, I don't get it and it's only with towels??
Can anyone here on this website help, please& thanks.

Never Had A Problem

With Persil, but then again my stash mostly consists of "older" versions before what seems to be a remake. That is my Persil "Sensitive" comes in cartons whilst now the stuff is packaged in bags.

Haven't tried the Persil "Universal" powder one got from a swap with Stan but soon as one does will post results if anything is out of the ordinary.

With just towles in the washer, most people get a high amount of suds, as towles tend to suds al lot. So have you tried to wash mixed loads? There should be a lower amount of suds there. Let us know.

Greetings,Flo

Fabric Softener

A little fabric softener in the rinse water helps to beat down any suds problem I have encountered with towels. I also find that the hotter the wash bath, the less detergent required to get the job done.

i shocked its happening with persil.
most likely not enough water in rinse cycle..you said a duet..that figures..
i do towels in my speed queen top loader with persil...crystalline rinse.

Fabric softener

Some amount of suds remaining over the rubber boot and around might be "normal" in a FL especially if in the spin your washer had a sudslock (common with towels because they hold more water and  during spin they have   more water to be extracted and so your washer will suds up due to water being "spinned" and foam will create ), the suds  likely may be not compeltely rinsed away   and it is better for me to do not say why as I would maybe  upset someone ......
But, as others said liquid  fabric softener will help to eliminate the suds, if you experience a suds lock during wash spin you can prepare a mix of 2 tbsp of softener in 2 cups of water and pour it in the detergent drawer followed by a cup of tap water. to rinse away the drawer and it's pipes....

It is not fault of Persil at all, every Low Foam detergent would do that, especially if you get a suds lock but even if not.

For whose does not know what a sudslock is:

This is what  a Sudslock is, BTW the factory and company of this washer Siltal/Iar is near my town 12 miles from here in Casale Monferrato  and in Occimiano 10 miles from here there is the washer factory, Siltal though (famous brand for refrigerators) got in Bankrupt few years ago.

@mrwash

My towels are white so what would I mix them with? And mixing them with anything wouldn't that cause linting or pilling with the other items in the load?
Tks for your help and to everyone:)

He probably meant to mix wash by not washing towels only, but maybe dont know for ex shirts, pillow cases, bedsheets etc.......maybe loading half towels and half of the rest whites laundry, but not towels only....
Why would you get linting? If your load is all of whites even if some lint transfer to another white  garment is not a problem, would be rather if your load was of mixed colors  with whites, not only you'd get linting on items but also you may get greyest towels, not a good deal to drop every kind of colors  with white laundry if you want your whites to be really white.....

Maybe you should "recondition" your towels with a water conditioner and a hot water wash to strip unrinsed detergent out of them. I don't know if Calgon is still made or if you have access to Sodium Tripolyphosphate, STPP, but the procedure was one half cup of Calgon with the load. The suds that would appear were coming out of the fabric. I have forgotten if you ever mentioned your water quality, but over time incomplete rinsing allows detergents to build in fabrics and this might be the case with your towels. I wash with most loads either Persil or Tide powders. I generally use equal amounts of detergent and STPP, about two tablespoons. For some loads, I mix half Persil and half Tide for very low sudsing and a bit of money saving.

Having had a Duet, I can say that I did not consider the rinsing adequate so you might just be experiencing the long term effects of that.

Whites...

Well, I don't know about your white laundry but beside white towles, I do have a lot of other white stuff:

- undershirts
- undwerwear (boxers, slips etc)
- socks
- bathrobes
- bedding
- kitchen towles
- tablecloths
- napkins

Thats all I remember for the moment, but I don't see any reason why I should wash the towles seperate from the rest. I know many people do that but doesn't sound logical to me. Never washed towles seperate and never had any problems. But at least everyone can do as he pleases :-)

I have the same problem sometimes with towels, no matter what detergent I use. Towels just seem to hold detergent worse than clothes. It's like when you use a washcloth in the shower and try to rinse the soap out of it when you're done. You go to wring out the washcloth thinking it's rinsed and more suds come out of it.

@ StrongEnough78

So what is your trade secret to getting the towels to rinse good?
My soft water may be part of the culprit, or it may be leading to half of problem with the rinsing?

Well I don't have one really. I use Sears Ultra Plus which is very low sudsing and I use a top loading washer. If they are sudsy in the rinse I usually run them through another rinse with fabric softener. By then the suds are usually gone. However when I have a lot of towels and must use a front loader at the laundromat, I have the same problem you do. I'm not sure how much suds you are getting, but I usually don't get a obscene amount, but sometimes there are slight traces of suds at the last rinse.

I use fabric conditioner

Everytime I wash towels I use half a cap of fabric conditioner to give them some extra fluffiness. I use about a heaped tablespoon of detergent when washing towels, I use extra if im washing teatowels in the load. I wash them at 60*c but occasionally use the 50*c quick wash cycle If im in a hurry, then when the cycle completes switch it to a cottons softener rinse and long fast spin.

Absence of Froth Does Not Always Equal No Detergent Residue

Best indication of clean rinsed laundry is when the final rinse/extract water is clear. Oils including silicones will break the surface tension of bubbles getting shot of them, but that does not always translate into the fact detergent/soap residue is totally removed from fabrics.

Sounds like

The towels are holding a residue, try washing them without any powder and see what comes out in the Warm / Hot water when they are relaxed...

If you have a chance to use a max extract spin then use it, a seperate spin dryer and / or a G force spinner in the launderette,

Sometimes thick towels just seem to hold on to residues in the middle fibres over time, its all about loosening those middle fibres and spinning the stuff out!!

let us know how you get on!!

On Sunday

I washed the second load in hot water, one teaspoon of Persil, surprisingly there was a sudsy wash bath, so when the machine drained/spinned, I then reset it to another hot wash and there were more suds, not like the first time, so I then let the machine drain and spin, then I did a warm rinse which was just about clear. So the towels were holding on to residue that needed a good kick to the curb.
Maybe I may need to do a hot wash periodically to eliminate residue build up.I just don't want to wear my towels out too soon washing in hot water every time, maybe I'm wrong saying that as well, I don't know, but I also don't like fabric softner/conditioner on my towels.
