Returned my Phillips air fryer to BBB today after having it almost 1 1/2 yrs. The inner basket would not lock into place all the time, bottom would fall, plus the basket was starting to rust. Very hard to clean. BBB took the appliance back no questions asked and I have a T-Fal Actifry on order to be delivered to the house this week. Cheers for BBB. Mike

To get this thread back to something constructive and not something that belongs in another forum may I ask the OP for more information...?

You say the basket has rusted? Do you mean the mesh part at the bottom or the non stick solid sides?

You also mention that it is difficult to clean, May I ask how you clean yours?

I fail to see your gripe over the locking mechanism having owned a Philips Airfryer for 3 years and this is only caused by user error by not ensuring that it clicks into place with the click noise it makes. I have had this happen to me a few times through misuse.

Would you get into a car and accept that the seatbelt had engaged without hearing the clunk click noise? This is the very same thing.

Having used the Tefal Actifry I think you will be dissapointed using it to cook Fries as it breaks them up and I never found they actually browned very evenly or cooked nicely.

Cooking other things like sausages/chops/heating bread is not exactly that easy or achievable in the actifry thus making it much less versatile than the Airfryer. They tout the ability for it to cook wet mixtures such as stews casseroles and stir fry vegetables but I fail to see why this is not just as easily achieved in a saucepan on a stove and with much less washing up and cleaning involved.

Glad to hear that your Air fryer has lasted as long as it has. The basket started rusting on the bottom where the mesh screen meets the sides. The coating on the bottom of the basket starting peeling. As far as cleaning just used soap and water. When I took it back to Bed Bath & Beyond the manager told me I was not the first person to return it because of the basket not locking properly. The Actifryer will be delivered today. Going to do Chicken wings tonight and will report back with my findings.

Has anyone had any experience with the "New Wave" fryer? It looks so much like the Philips brand that I am wondering if it is built by Philips. Much cheaper. Just curious.
