Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Freddie

It's the Whirlpool Automatic Surgilator with the corkscrew upper column removed, and a pretty cap to hide the lug nut.

A shot of another of my favorite machines -

doing laundry today in my 1935 Maytag model 30. I love all three of my wringer washers - I'd be hard pressed to decide which one to part with, if I had to.

Is the Maytag awkward to use with the hose in front? Does the hose fall off if you brush against it? If the hose does fall off, does water start gushing out or do you have to trip a switch first?

Thats my Visi-matic!!

Thanks for posting the Visi-matic Mickeyd! Its exactly like mine. Mine is a 1965 and had not been used when I bought it. Im with you, its a great machine. I do love the trim-ness of the Norge though.
Thanks for posting your photos everyone.

@rpms Brian - to answer your questions...

No, it's not awkward having the hose situated on the front of the machine. It is next to impossible to "knock off" as you must pull upwards on the hose to disengage the hook. In order to drain, the hose must be pressed downwards, so even if it was to get knocked loose, the natural curve of the hose prevents it from falling completely down. A very good design, actually.

That restoration

Is just awesome Brad! When I was a kid I never saw those REALLY old washers. All I saw was the square Maytag's or the round Speed Queens, Kenmore's and so on. But those 30's Maytag's were already old even when I was young. And those morphed into the next generation of white painted enamel my E2LP was based on. Maybe they were wearing their skirts a little lower. White after Memorial Day or some Nazi style rules! Styles change.

But your restoration is soooo IMPRESSIVE. The older they are the harder it is to match paint colors and so on.

Everybody's classic looks so fine here.

Kudos to Chris on his 's Maytag repaint job!
