The new set up which is unusual for us as the washer and dryer will be in the same room and almost side by side.
The dryer has always been in the garage and now the garage is the new dining room!

The small unit will be going between the washer and dryer.
Dryer is pulled out so we can get the vent hose out the back door lol

and work is still in progress

4 hours! When Hoover cant make a tuble dryer that is reliable for more than 12 moths when it started sqeaking and now its 4 years old (5 in december) it takes 4 hours to dry a load of washing because the heater has gone, its a touch pathetic. They seriously have no chance with washing machines

and when they cant get a basic dryer right they haver no chance with getting the basics of the hoovers right either!
used as Mums daily driver 2002 - 2004

This was 2 years old when the pedal went, now you have to prop it up when you want to use the hose.
and to store it.

COME ON HOOVER GET A GRIP!!!!!! BASICS BASICS!

Busted!!

Now Nick...don't blame Mum for everything! LOL We need to ship Bob (Appnut) over to the UK to give her some dishwasher loading lessong! LOL I don't know anyone that can cram so much into a d/w and have it come out "sparkly" clean!

The redo is going to be fantastic! Post pics of the finished areas, won't you!

OMG! Atora!

aquarius1984:

I have a confession- when on my visit, I peeked in your larder and saw one of my pet loves- Atora! We can't have it here, at least not the original. We can get the vegetable, but real British beef suet is a no-no, for some reason probably related to BSE, not that we're exactly free of that over here ourselves.

For those of you in America who haven't a clue what I'm talking about, Atora is packaged beef suet, used for pastries, steamed puddings, and all sorts of baking. It serves the purpose we'd use lard or shortening for over here. Suet is a different flavour and texture, and delectable it is.

Anyway, nice to see that packet- it brought back some fond memories of British friends and British cooking.

I've seen some Russell Hobbs appliances starting to make their way onto the shelves here along with the Brevilles but they're still pretty much an unknown to most people.

BTW I notice that many many British kitchens have those colorful tiles, are they actually that color or are they decals stuck over plain tiles?

oooooooo i think i can recognize that kettle lol, thats the exact same one we have as you well know nick lol, our mutual kettle.

The dryer looks nice but i can believe it being a tad rubbish.

Your mums kitchen/diner almost looks like an Aussie kitchen, very open plan and light.

And yes, i share your pet hate of people getting powder in softener dispensers and leaving it, its just not right
matt

hehehehe! Matt stick it on, due another tea. Il ship you some PG Tips, strong as ya can get it and a dash of milk, no sugar ta.

Sandy, yes Atora the key ingredient of suet pastry, essential for one of my steak and kidney puddings or jam roly poly..... served with birds custard naturally, sauce anglaise from scratch just aint the same.

Retromom,

You kidnap Bob and il feed him for the week, ive shown mum how to "BobloadTM" but the concept isnt grasping despite having had a DW for more than 20 years.

Pete they are real tiles, shipped over from an artisan pottery in Spain that my parents have been to. they were from the old kitchen and have been up for 6 years now. We are cutting and shoving the kitchen for now, although it is being done properly and will look great, why waste good units?

Brisnat, yes the same washers you have as Maytag in Oz and undoubtedly the worst made machines ever. All the "Candy" appliances weve had spanning 20 years they all havnt lasted more than 4 years.

Indesit have the edge for the new Hotpoint machines as they dont look as cheap as the current Hoover Nextra range with their manky and terribly plasticky late 90s Indesitesque dials. They have a reasonable knowledge to make a half decent dryer although I did break one it was mostly my fault.

Right im off to watch the Hottie attempt to rid the suds off my towels, Im on the Filletti and its suds central! LOL

Nick
