What a great picture of the day, featuring one of my favorite television personalities, Bill Cullen! Bill was a versatile guy, anyone remember him on "I've Got A Secret"? They sure don't make game shows like they used to. Wasn't "What's My Line" wonderful too. And Kitty Carlisle on "I've Got A Secret" was so much fun. What were your favorite game shows?

What's My Line

I love watching the old WML, it captures so much from that era, we hear what the weather is doing in New York, who was at 21 last week, the difference between daytime and evening dresses, famous people talking unscripted, the funniest one of all to me was the women who repaired zippers, Steve Allen asked her if it would be found in an office?, would a good secretary know how to use one?, when your finished is there a ding? The audience was losing it. John Daly looked very uncomfortable during the questions.

There are three

"To Tell The Truth,"

"What's My Line,"

and the Art Fleming "Jeopardy!"

I did watch "The Price Is Right," and I loved Bob Barker, but there was nothing much to TPIR, just shopping. I like to kid myself that I could be learning something.

I used to like Alex Trebek, until he shaved off his moustache.
For me, face fur is highly desirable.

Color

Hi! Did you notice the big color television camera? The price is right was one of the first game shows in color in 1956.I remember the peacock always coming on before it.The new Dvds of the show are filmed in black and white in that era.The same thing with the 1956 Red skelton shows from CBS,Thanks Bobby

Remember there was no way to capture color TV in color before 1958. The first color videotape just had it's 50th. And it was very experimental at the time.

Game shows in color, I wouldn't know about it. Our family got our first color tv in 1972 or 1973. I was home sick from school, napping on the couch. When I woke up, there was the new tv set and my parents grinning like the Cheshire Cat. I finally got to see Star Trek in color that evening. Nice memories they are.
