What year model is this set? I had the dryer in harvest gold while in college.

My dad reminded me (again) on the phone, recently, that the dryer is sitting in their storage building in Odessa, TX. Anyone interested???

Just a basic guess

David -

My Grandmother had a set in white which was otherwise identical to these. They came with a place they built around 1973 or 1974. Ironically my mother and I were just talking about this last night. It could have been late 1972 as well. I can't exactly remember.

GE made machines that looked like this for a really long time, but hers was an early one because the model home, which was only a year older, had a similar set with the older console styling. Later versions had red and orange print at the timer vs. white.

Yeah, at one point I lived in an apartment that had been built in 1986, and it had a GE set very similar to this.

1973 GE Trivia

This same year, GE offered a Hotpoint-built solid tub washer with the GE brand on it. Fountain filter, spiral agitator, etc.

1974 was the last year for the production of the Hotpoint solid tub washer, then becoming a GE clone with self-cleaning filter ring.

1973

We bought a TOL "P" set that year. A "Multi-Speed" with Automatic Bleach and Softener dispensers under the lid and a funky dry detergent dispenser that sat on top of the super filter-flo pan where the softener dispenser usually sat. Close to perfect except that it had the straight-8 activator(which sucked)and it squawked loudly when it agitated(lose agitator coupler?). Best dryer we ever owned--electronic control was right on the money, every time. Hate to admit this here, but this pair replaced a vintage 1947 Hamilton Dryer and a Frigidaire WCI-58. Oh well.
