We have a set of Frigidaire appliances some of which are about to "retire". They are all 1963 vintage and pink color - which was wife's requirement when we set-up our original home. The immediate available item is the washer, which has been drooling oil from the transmission for some time. However, it has been getting very noisy and should be repaired or replaced. Our fixer says that he knows what parts are needed but also that he has thrown them out since there was no call for them in his business. All our units were made by Frigidaire/GM Canada and gave great service over the years to present. The washer is a model noted on the inside of the lid is "WDAC-63 WDARC63". Wiuld there be any collertor interest in this washer ?
My parents have a 1939 Westinghouse refrigerator still stashed in their basement. Is it of any collector interest ?
We live up north of Minneapolis in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. My contact details are:

oh my paws and whiskers

if I could, I would - but I can't so I hope somebody can!
And a matched set, at that!
Sturdy, indeed - might even break the crusher, we wouldn't want that now, would we?

Yes, this washer/set should be saved.

But I'm confused. The first message says it's a '63 three ring washer.

The picture though shows one of those hard plastic jet-action agitators, not a three ring.

Am I wrong or missing something here?

Like so many others----the original "three-ring" has been discarded in favor of a "jet-cone". At least the larger tub of this model could accomodate it decently.

This was considered "common practice" back in the day (and was reccomended by the factory, who no doubt, was glad to hear less grumbling about clothes tangeling) and even many Unimatics and Multimatics had servicemen convert their original pulsators to "jetcones". Looks kind of funny to see a "jetcone" in a Unimatic. The tub appears way too small for it.

Bob, my thoughts exactly; 2 days left and whoever is close had better GET BUSY, even if they don't want it!!! We all know there's a shortage of pink Frigidaire washers...

Also, has anyone else noticed that in this particular Deep-Action agitator, the lint ejector slots are wider than most?

Please someone save this machine!

This is a Frigidaire washer in PINK. It might not be TOL but jeez people.

Uni, why don't you get the machine? Aren't you close to there?

Because I can't save everything Jason, I don't have the space as well as the fact that I just don't have the time right now to drop everything and drive up to Winnipeg.

Someone else is going to have to do it or ker-krush.

Two days and counting, tick...tick...tick.

Well...

This is the kind of opportunity I'm looking for, but my cat goes in for major surgery tomorrow and I need to be here to nurse her after the ordeal and so on. Life happens and you can't always drop everything on at a moment's notice and travel to another country. That's the way it goes.

Washer Hostel

Is there a Canadian member who can take them in until the computer work is caught up or the cat gets over it's hairball?

Today's POD (24 May)

This beautiful picture is just adding insult to injury. If I had the money and the time, I would fly right over and pick up both of them right now! Kelly asks a pertinent question, isn't there anybody in Canada who could give these wonderful pink machines a friendly storage shed? Or better yet, a home?
I cringe to think of them going to the crusher - but I am so many thousands of miles away, I confess my complaints must sound childish...

I don't think there's anyone in Winnipeg and Robert appears to be the closest. It's at the least a 15 hr drive from here and we're trying to pack stuff up and downsize for a cross country move not bring more in.. I just got supreme shite this morning when my other half found my last Sundays flea market finds hidden in my car.. lol. The other awful thing is that the moving truck will be going right through Winnipeg in August.

I've shot Eddy an email just in case he hasn't seen this yet.

I really hope this set is saved. And what happened to all those people who posted in the past about "looking for a 50's/60's Frigidaire washer"? Strange, and ironic that they have pretty much disappeared now that one is available. Perhaps they weren't all that interested in one...

Tick, tick, tick...
