Spoken for

It looks like the dryer is spoken for as of today. I will keep you posted once it leaves the premises. Thanks to all the many people who showed interest and were patient through the process. I know this dryer will now have a good home and be protected from common metal scrappers!

The Maytag combo uses a similar water-aeration system for drying and I have to say that it's just as good or better than any other condensing dryer of the time, possibly better given it's thriftier use of water.  The combo drying is hobbled by the 340 RPM spinning but I have tried it after a decent final spin and the drying system works beautifully.

Wow, that must have been an expensive dryer when new. I wonder what the price difference was between a no-vent and a comparable vented dryer?

MT WATER CONDENSING DRYER

Actually the drawing just makes it look complicated. The only extra parts are an inlet valve and the drain hose as compared to regular vented pre HOH dryers. It is still less complicated than the gas dryer and if I had to guess I think it was probably about the same cost as the gas vented version at the time.

Thanks

Many thanks for the explanation. While this machine is way too far away to think about, I gotta admit that a "Water/Condensor" dryer is now on my wish list, just too cool and unique. Especially whan you can use the exhaust water for warm/hot in the washer!
Thanks again
Mark

My thoughts of complication should have been clarified to read as a comparison to later Maytag dryers - i.e., HOH Maytag. The 2nd generation Maytag dryers - airflow or condensing - were constructed using many parts in comparison to later generation dryers, at least from my perspective. It makes sense why Maytag revised the dryers from a profitability perspective, considering they needed to make some money up from the original water film and second generation. :)

I almost didn't include my thought - looking back, I should have been more clear. :)
