Platinum Whirlpool BD set?

WOW!!!!....how beautiful......someone needs to grab them....a matched set, in platinum, with the books....and seems in very good condition.......

Those are really neat Ben!! I am a little bit surprised (and enthused) that you're going to give them a home. We don't have a lot of platinum machines in the club.
Before I bought my Kenmores in 1986, I had bought a WP set a notch or two down from these, in Toast. Circuit City was selling the toast at the price of white, and white was on backorder. The washer had a temp knob instead of the push buttons, but was otherwise similar. Circuit C had matched that washer, a large capacity, with a 5.9 cu. ft. standard dryer. I cancelled these when I saw a sale at Sears, but I have often wondered what it would have been like to have that set.
Funny that there are lot of the model above (I think it is an LA7680) but I have only seen one or two ever of the LA5580 that I had bought.

Platinum WP Pair
These were very popular machines here in this area and we still have customers with them, especially the dryer after the washers have been replaced. But you know the rule Ben one in and one goes out, but I am willing to give you a pass on the two out if you sell us one combination laundry appliance.

Hey Ben, LOL! Yep, I have wondered the same thing.
I have never been the most open-minded guy when it comes to the world of laundry and washing machines ("no really?!?! You don't say Gordon!") but when I bought that WP set, I was somewhat excited because the washer had a manual filter. I was not happy about the standard cap dryer, and I really wanted KMs like my Mother's.
When the Sears sale came, I saw my chance. The dryer was a MUCH better deal - large cap., nice drop down hamper door like the soon-to-be yours platinum dryer, and with WrinkleGuard. It was $9 more expensive. The washer was also $9 more (I was making like $6 an hour, part time back then), but lacked one water level from the WP, but I didn't care, I wanted the KM.
I haven't been sorry, but it would be cool to the toasties. I have never seen anything in a WP in Toast, though a have a couple KMs.

I love how the seller put "decided to upgrade" when what they really did was downgrade. They're going to miss those machines very soon.

That is it exactly. Most all of those are standard capacity (LA5310 or LA5700/10), but the one I had selected was large capacity with the winged Surgilator. That machine is mid-80s (the Whirlpool indent on the cabinet is gone), so it could be! I think the 5700/5580 shared the same panel, though I don't know if they mention capacity on them like WP sometimes does.
Love the Totally Awesome detergent - they must be frequenters of Dollar Tree or similar.

@ Kenny - you know, it does look like toast. But UGH, I really don't need 3 belt drives in my basement, let alone double parking machines.
