Platinum Whirlpool BD set?

When WP and KM were looking for a new color...

I still wonder why they did not revive "Doeskin." It was such an elegant, eggshell or antique white color. I remember a LK combo at our Sears store in Doeskin. It was on the aisle after you came up the escalator and walked past the appliance department. Doeskin was a much cleaner color than Toast (very prophetic name there) without the orangey-brown tones and had none of the government-issue desk and file cabinet gray look of Platinum.

Was Doeskin much of a seller? It seems like this color was only available for a few years? I have seen it listed as an option on the parts list for my 1965 Lady Ks, but it wasn't listed on similar product from just a few years later.

Seems like I've seen a Kenmore dryer in Doeskin, and maybe a WP set in that color, and that's all I can remember. It doesn't seem like they were much of a seller, so that experience would have been considered when WP/KM made their marketing decisions regarding Toast.

Toast and Platinum were considered "Today's neutrals" back in 1984. Doeskin may have been too similar to Almond?

Doeskin was WAAAAY before Almond and not nearly so tan. Yes, it was only available for a few years, but it was a color ahead of its time when people were wanting bolder colors. I don't know if the color extended to the WP laundry line and do not know that I have seen other Sears appliances in that color except maybe a refrigerator in an ad once.

I checked the Super Searcholator on here by typing in "Doeskin". There is not even a lot of mention of it in all the years that are archived, but there are about three pics. A KM combo, and a WP set. Pretty cool stuff!

I know the Doeskin was waaay older than Almond, but what I'm saying is that having them both simultaneously, ie. a revival of Doeskin instead of Toast in the 1980s, may have made two colors that are too similar, or better said, not different enough (almond and Doeskin).

Finding a Doeskin appliance today, or a W/D set would be really something!

I still dont no what the wings at the bottom of the agitator do...

Some say its for gentle action some say to help with large loads to roll over..

Your take or anyone ..?

 

I have to say the GE washer that Robert has seeing it in person the lint is really flushed

very well.

Ben that is the coolest color...and congrats on the pair again.

From what I can remember, Kenmore introduced Doeskin when Pink was dropped; sometime around 1964. It was originaly unshaded. By 1968 it got edge shading like Coppertone and Avocado had.

I don't know if Whirlpool ever used the name Doeskin on their own line, but by '68 they had a color called Edged Fawn. This was offered along with Edged Sapphire for a short time. Kenmore called their same blue Shaded Slate.

These colors seemed to be offered on fewer models than other colors available at the time, making them even more rare.

Years ago, I had a 30" Whirlpool range, in a shaded Doeskin like color. It was a mid 60's vintage.

I believe washerlover's '65 Lady K combo is doeskin. Love this color.

That is a gorgeous WP set! Look like the set I bought back in the early 80's. I loved that washer and dryer, they were real work horses.
