Well it appears there was another major outage out the data-center in Porvo Utah where automaticwasher and vacuumland are hosted at Hostgator. We were down for about 12 hours annoyingly.

Unfortunately when an ISP goes dark as our's did there is nothing I can do but wait for them to get the problem fixed on their end.

It does however make me nervous that this is the 3rd outage in 12 months, so I probably will start doing some research into moving the sites to a new provider. However this is a long process and still a gamble, unless you are a huge service such as google, yahoo or eBay and can afford to have have thousands of backup/mirror servers, outages like this can happen at any provider.

Again I do apologize for any inconvenience of the down time. Later on today, for upgraded members, I will write a script to add a week to everyone's days counter to try to offset some of the inconvenience.

Again I appreciate everyone's support of the sites.

Now back to washing, vacuuming (and for me bed :-)

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. The occasional outage only makes me realize how much I'd miss the AW community if it ceased to exist. Thanks for the extra days, Robert.

Now, get to bed, mister!

:-)

UK Robert: Completely off topic, but I have to comment: My Dad (who was from England) used to say "Worse things happen at sea" when I'd complain about something, or if I'd spill a glass of milk at the table as a kid. Loved it, although my friends would always look at me incomprehensibly when I'd use it.[this post was last edited: 4/17/2014-06:58]

Your apologies are accepted Robert - but no need to apologise, you can't have control of everything, and of course "everything" doesn't fall under the bracket of perfect.

I agree wholeheartedly with Frigilux though - when the site's down for any length of time, you really come to appreciate this site... I don't think I'm alone in saying I was suffering "withdrawal symptoms" by this afternoon when I finally managed to get back online!

Thanks for updating us Robert, and best wishes for your Birthday tomorrow as others have pointed out :-)

Well Robert,

it was simply scathing that I could not get into my favorite place on line yesterday. Of all the audacity !!!! No excuses you have can be accepted. LOL. OK now for the real story. Thank you for all you do for us with no pay coming into your pocket. I make several trips here a day and love it. I, as I am certain every other member, do appreciate all you do. Thanks for telling us why we could not get hooked up. But, please don't feel you owe us an apology. Where would we be without you ????? No one wants to think about where that may be. Thanks again for all of your effort and splanations you give us. Best to you both !!!!!

Jim

Thank you Robert, for your tireless work on this website. You make it a very comfortable place to visit, several times a day.
There is no need to apologise for the issue, it was beyond your control. I also don't feel there is any need for you to add any time to my upgraded status. But thank you for the offer.
Happy Birthday!
Onward, Todd

Robert:

No need for apologizing. I understand that this was not at all your fault. I also understand that you do an "America's largest usable capacity with the exclusive Dual Action Agitator" load of work to make this site so wonderful for us all.
While I would never ask it of you I greatly appreciate the extra week of upgrade.
Thank you so much again for all you do for us.

Thank You, Robert

Robert:

Thank you so much for the extra days. You are so gracious to apologize for something that is not your fault. Your kindness and generosity toward this wonderful community you have established through your amazing site is nothing short of a blessing.

I want you to know that you've created more than a website. I've seen others express it in many posts. You've created a connection to our past, a way to recall and relive memories of loved ones and cherished times of our childhood, a nostalgia, of sorts. You've created a way for us to learn new things, even though we may not have time to contribute each day, nor the knowledge to do so. For some of us, although we may only surf the site for the most part, we still get to participate in wonderful stories, amazing restorations, and fun wash-ins. We get the opportunity to learn things about others' lives all over the globe as well as opportunities to make new friends.

So...thank you so much...for all the long hours and hard work; for the headache of sometimes having to run a kindergarten; for personally touching our hearts even when you don't know us personally, but making it feel like we're old friends; and mostly, just for being you. You're the best.
