THATS IT!!! FINALLY!!! Thats the exact washer I grew up with. I believe my mom purchased them in 1970 (matched set in coppertone) She had them up until 1995 when the washer finally gave up the ghost. She would say to me, "I have to get the agitator started by hand for the first wash of the day" I suggested it was time to get rid of them (who knew) Replaced them with BOL DD Kenmores They were a great set and served a family of 5 well for many years!

Now thats a washer with some class. Sears machines were always so nicely styled, much more attractive than Whirlpools anyway.

I was at an estate sale not too long ago and the dryer in the house was very similar to this washer.

Sears Kenmore

I too grew up with a sears kenmore machine although the one my mother had was a few years older it lasted many years and washed LOTS of clothes I always admired the Chrome on the control panel they sure seemed like a well built machine to me..

I have to say that my favorite standard agitator washers of that period were the belt-drive Kenmores. To this day, I still can't understand why they couldn't have designed at least another 100 RPMs or so into the spin speed. I knew it was possible, because the roll-to-the-sink Kenmore portables with the belt drive, wig-wag mechanism spun at about 800 RPM.

That's the model right below the Model 800 that both Jason & I had (Jason when he was a child) & me in high school.
