Anyone out there have one of these or remember exactly how well these worked? Am I correct in assuming that they didn't work well; doesn't appear the agitator design lasted long. LOVE the "7% cleaner" claim! Pure Madison Ave. hype; how could that ever be proven? Curious what folks have to say...

Happy New Year to ALL!

I believe the '59 Philco in this video belongs to webmaster Robert. I've also heard from others that cleaning power decreased when the larger, perforated tub was introduced. This one has no problem with turnover, that's for sure! It's great fun to see washers from this era that strayed from the standard oscillating agitator format (Apex, Kelvinator, Frigidaire).

I have one

and the performance of the machine is great. It can take a huge load and keep on going. The only thing I don't like about it is the slow spin speed, somewhere around 550 rpm. It also rinses really well.

Thanks, guys! WOW, turnover is MUCH better than I thought! That does seem to be a critical equation: tub size/type and what size/type of agitator. Looks like Philco switched to a more conventional design in the early 60's?

Appreciate the comments, you lads ARE the experts!
