This is my first post, so please be gentle...LOL. I always come here to look at the POD and this one really caught my eye as I remember this unit back in the early 80s. My mom took care of cleaning a couple's house and they had this unit. I love sci-fi (especially Star Trek) and thought the controls were lifted right from the Enterprise.

However, I remember more buttons than shown here. What year are these units from?

It's a model LFA9800 with matching dryer. Introduced 1977, IIRC. The dryer has mechanical pushbuttons, not touchpads. Neighbors had this pair, in almond, not that fabulous mint green unfortunately.  ;-)

I was always disappointed that the machines didn't have fluorescent-lighted consoles.

There was a 9500 or 9200 washer (or maybe both) produced a little later that had slightly fewer buttons and settings.

The LHA series and later changed to a horizontal touchpad array stretched across the console, on both washer and dryer. Here's a picture of an LHA dryer (I think it is).

Finish Guard is the "wrinkle guard" option that runs an intermittent tumble for a period of time after the drying cycle has ended.

Tumble Press is the "wrinkle remover" cycle for clean but wrinkled items that runs a few minutes of heat and a brief cool-down. Probably the same as running a 20-min timed dry.
