The control panel on this machine looks so much like the TOL AMC washers from the early mid 60s.

Handsome machines, plus I love the window in the dryer door and you could even have the dryer in gas . . . I want them, preferably in turquoise! Were these the last Easys built by Easy?

The dryer had some good theory in its construction. The air entered at right rear and exited at left front so it was pulled diagonally as well as from front to back through the load. The lint screen was recessed into the collar between the door and the drum. The drum was galvanized so that was a little behind the times already.
CU reported on tests of dryers in August, 1963. Easy ranked in the top 5, behind HP & SQ, which were check rated, then KM and Frigidaire. The Easy was rated Relatively fast, but noisier than average. It had a heat without tumbling cycle.

I wonder how the measured fill on the solid-tub washer worked.
How did they measure the fill on the solid-tub washer?
Possibly the same way they do on my '77-'78 Speed Queen.
There is a little tank between the outer tub and the cabinet. When the washer is filling, some of that fill water goes into this tank and when the float is at the right point, the water shuts off and it starts agitating.
When the washer pauses before the spin, a solenoid lifts the drain plug and the tank drains. I'll see if I can post a photo in an hour or so.

I never saw this model before and had no idea Easy made an automatic washer with the stainless steel tub. I grew up with the Rivera model from the early fifties. It had a white porcelain tub. We replaced it on 11/22/1963 with a Sears Lady Kenmore combination washer dryer.

These were interesting machines and they were ALL Easy designed and built, they shared nothing with any other machines. The washer was the first automatic automatic to have a directly driven transmission and water pump that used a horizontally mounted motor [ GEs AW6s and the famous Unimatics of coerce are directly driven mechanisms ]. Easy seemed very concerned about clothing getting thrown over the wash tub and had a huge plastic screen in the outer tub to catch stray socks, these screens could become a gross mess of smelly lint, [ could imagine this design today with cold water washing, it would be MOLD CITY, LOL ] Probably the worst thing about these washers was that they all seemed to come with Westinghouse motors which were not as durable as the other popular motors of the day made by GE, Delco and Emerson.
The dryers biggest weak point was a very fast running [ noisy ] blower, it also had a stretchy rubber blower belt that was not very durable.
By this time in US laundry history every brand was selling Gas Dryers, Frigidaire added them in 1961, Westinghouse and GE-HP added them in 1964 to there lineups. Most other makers had them from the beginning of their automatic washer and dryer lines.

So, when did Easy go out of the Laundry/Appliance Business????

If you noticed in the specs, the pump had 16 metal vanes. It was probably very easy to clog or break. This was part of Easy's old technology. Why a competent clothes guard at the top of the tub like many other brands used was not sufficient, I don't know.
