Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

No, with the Norge, the air was blown through the dryer. The air stream was so strong that if the door switch was broken and the door was opened while the dryer was on, it would blow clothes out of the dryer. The hair dryer had a mounting plate at the base of the duct with a front and rear panel that fit on either side of the door opening. The panels expanded to seal off the opening and force the air through the hair dryer.

On the Kenmore dryers with the belt-driven blower, the lint screen was removed and the hair dryer/room heater duct was inserted in the lint filter opening to blow air out.

Norges!

Ohhhhh, wouldn't I love to have that pair! The dryer is known for blowing lint, but they do dry clothes wonderfully, the drum is huge, and the airflow so great, that your clothes dry pretty much wrinkle free and very fluffy.

Did Norge also have an attachment to allow home flocking of

No attachment necessary. As long as the tree is in the room, just toss in a load of clothes and turn it on.

Hans is right, if you had a new dryer with good seals they were great dryers. I've only used the later style models with the child-killer latching door but they did move a lot of air with a short vent run. As the machine aged, the seals got weak and allowed the positive pressure to leak air (and lint) into the room. If you had a forced-air HVAC system, eventually you could flock the whole house!

We have, sitting in Beltsville, a less deluxe version of this dryer. It has the same pattern on the metal control panel, but has a side swing door, a rotary knob for the heat selections and is electric. It needs a door gasket, but otherwise is in like new shape. Norge dryers were hard on door gaskets because they blew the tumbling fabrics against the gasket and slowly wore it down.
