point voyager wash system

Hello everybody. I am interested in the point voyager wash system. What was the background on this wash system? How much research went into this particular wash system? How much engineering went into this design? I've had the first point voyager wash system in 2004 which was a Kenmore. That is when I started using the high temp wash on normal cycle since day one. I now have a 2007 whirlpool gold and surely still use the normal high temp wash all the time. On the '04 Kenmore the normal cycle's prewash was quick. On my '07 Whirlpool Gold, the prewash has pauses. I'd like to know the history as well as the research in addition to the development and engineering into the point voyager wash system.
