I would die if I hear that. I love my collection, Each machine has it's positive and negative points and I think it would be very hard to choose only one.
The "101%" perfect machine doesn't exist yet and it's virtually impossible to be designed and I think it would be very hard to choose only one.

And you, collectors? If you have to choose only one machine to be your D. driver, what machine would you choose? Top or front loader? vintage or modern? model? Also explain why.

You can consider machines you don't have too.

Hmmm. This could be a dilemma....

If you are talking washing machines and I had to pick from few that I have currently the '66 Inglis top-loader would be the winner. Yes, I know - the turquoise GE combo is not the one...

Now, if you are talking dishwashers - the '56 GE pull-out in the <new> kitchen is the winner. I just love those ol' impeller dishwashers!!

Thats easy for me as I only have two washers at the moment, My pick is the LAT series Dependable Care, it's old enough to be a real Maytag and new enough to not have any issues, I spotted it on the back of a parked truck full of stuff that was headed to the scrap yard,I gave the guy $20.00 for it,all it needed was the clamp tightend on the bleach dispenser hose at the bottom of the tub. two years later and no problems (knock wood) LOL, I'd like to get it's matching gas dryer and a center dial washer to match my dryer.

Top loader. Superior wash and rinse, superior lint extraction (animal hair), reliability, durability, TONS of flexible options, awesome lighted tub/console, everything a human could possibly want and more.

Can you imagine what America could be doing with all those brilliant, skilled workers who got tossed out onto the street when Whirlpool took over?

There's an enormous infrastructure backlog out there - a bit of thought and effort would get things back up and running. I mean - look at these machines. How many Whirltags would you have to buy to match the lifetimes of these? Ten? Fifteen?

I'd keep my Maytag A606, at least untill I find a A806. I'm convinced that the 60s/70s Maytag is the best washer ever made.

Maytag regular capacity.

Likely my old A208 that I gave to Classiccaprice. Regular capacity, not large, but being an 08 series, it had the most options and features of the era on that size. It was my first vintage washer and one of the most reliable I have ever seen. The performance was tops too.
