Hi all ... I'm looking for toilet bolt caps to complete the look of my blue bath. The toilet is harvest gold with sky blue lid and I'm looking for sky blue caps to complete the Eames color scheme. It's the kind that take 4 caps: two oval and two round. Of course nobody sells porcelain caps anymore but plastic, and they're only in white.

I think if worst comes to worst I can buy a white set and paint it sky blue, but ideally I'd like to get a set of original colored porcelain. Any ideas?

Thanks!

here's a start

Appears these are plastic too, but you may find links for places to find the real deal. These are in colors, and the link is:

Do you have a Habitat for Humanity's Restore in town somewhere. Ours often has the old colored toilets but I couldn't say whether they have the bolts as well or if they'd sell them separately or not.. Worth checking out though.

Ohmega Salvage and Urban Ore in Berkeley, California have tons of old porcelain fixtures including toilets, in various colors.  I don't think Urban Ore takes phone orders, but Ohmega probably does.

Urban Ore

Good God, that place is heaven!

That's where I scored my pink 1954 American Standard toilet from for a whole $45 a couple of months back. I started walking around a bit and immediately left. I probably would've had several truckloads of "stuff" come home with me if I didn't forced myself outta there!

You might also try Murphy's Plumbing Supply in Dayton, OH. I was there a number of years ago, and they had fixtures in every imaginable color. They may have what you're looking for. Their number is (937)293-1142.

You might also want to call around to local plumbing contractors that have been in business for several years to see if they've kept any from commodes they've replaced.

We had a place on Farmer's Market Road, a little north of here that had all kinds of things yanked out of houses, we went looking for doors once or twice, and they had colored toilets galore! Probably had my General Electric kitchen in it someplace, but they went out of business rapidly, and turned into seconds from the home unprovement stores. That's gone too. Red Rooster Antique Mall had a pile of new old stock '60s green toothbrush holders, soap holders, towel bars, toilet roll holders. I'm lucky I still have my green bolt covers, a cat yanked one loose and played with it for a while.
