Well, I never thought I would own a pink stove, but when I saw this one it just downright seduced me. I already own a copy of this range in white, which I believe is the best color for stoves as it works with almost any decor. But they had this old girl plugged in, and everything worked...even the clock (amazingly)!

It is one of the cleanest specimens I've come across in a long time - it was well cared for and infrequently used. So, I may take this one up to the cottage next spring and switch it out with my 1954 Thrifty-30.

It has an automatic radiantube unit on the right front, and a speed-heat unit in the left rear position.

What a beautiful stove! It is so hard to find these in good shape, especially with the roll-out oven rack that automatically comes out when you open the doors in operating order! Congratulations and enjoy!

Mark,

I haven't given this the full test-drive yet, so I'll see if the HeatMinder is in working order. The sensor looks clean and in good shape, so I'm hoping it still functions. I'm gonna feel like Elvis' mama cookin' on this thang!

I just looked it up and see that 1956 still used the capillary-style sensor on the HeatMinder. They changed to that super-complicated electro-mechanical mechanism in the 1958 line. My guess is that these earlier ones might have been more reliable but most likely less accurate than the later more complicated design.

Also, that range would have originally had the 1250 watt 110 volt SpeedHeat unit in the front left corner. Those units used a SLIGHTLY narrower Radiantube than the 1450 watt 220 volt one. Just looking at the width of the Radiantube that is there I wouldn't be surprised if that got switched out at some point. You might have gotten lucky though!

I have the entire Range Tech-Talk for that year scanned if you don't have it and ever need the service literature. Happy cooking! Mark.

Nice color, nice stove. I'm impressed with the design of the doors. Love the chrome and balanced arrangement of the controls. Can you get a clearer picture of the stove, when you get it set up? What a find.

Nice little gem you scored there.

I envy the fact that you're able to collect, store, and rotate vintage stoves into your kitchen.

This is the first time I recall seeing the console of a '56 Frigidaire. The Catholic church I attended as a child had a couple of '54's (like yours). Cool! Love the double doors...and the pink color is a wonderful throwback to the days when pastels ruled the appliance world. Congrats! Hope to see it in future videos.

That's my problem...

I don't have space to store and rotate vintage stoves. There are many old stoves that appeal to me, but I will have to settle on one. I have a lead on a vintage stove if it works out. I will need to sell the one I have now to make way.

Again that's a great stove you got!

What a beauty!

You can tell the quality just looking at it. Love the pink, and I too never thought I'd be cooking on a pink range but a 1956 Hotpoint 40" double oven in pink recently sang its siren song, and thanks to a kind member here who was looking for a good home for it, it will soon be replacing the yellow '58 40 inch GE we we're currently using. Happy cooking!
