If the Speed Heart is still working, you can preserve it longer by always starting it at the Simmer setting until you hear it click back down to 120 volt operation. You can also disconnect the 230 volt lead to the control to keep both the original element and control functioning in the stove.

Mark K, I never saw any visible difference in the width of the SH elements on a Frigidaire range, was this just on 1956 ranges or something?

There is just something about pastel pink. I remember my first- A early 60 Whirlpool built-in electric oven at a Habitat Store. It quietly begged me to adopt it and its beauty.

It's almost enough to make me wish I could be a woman, in heels, working around my kitchen in 1960.... dealing with all the gender stereotypes, lack of womens social support services, lack of access to a safe contraceptives, and nursing an afternoon booze habit.
