Well, I broke down and brought the blue bottle of this.   I am kinda mixed on it.

The towels and blankets are soft now..   I used the first line on my first load, and it was kinda strong, so I cut it back to about a half amount of it, and it is better..  Maybe I am not used to the scent of fabric softener since I haven't used it for so long..

I haven't used fabric softener for over a year or so since it's too waxy/oily to my liking and don't want that crap build up in my washer.

1st ingredient is sugar

found it in the supermarket the other day.. i looked to see what the ingredients were. the first one posted was sugar? i dont understand how/why sugar is used in laundering.. is it harmful? it just seems odd to me...

Yeah, I was wondering about that too?

Anyway, Update...   I slept like crap last night in bed with this stuff.  The Scent was "too much" for me, even tho I cut way back on the amount.    I know I won't be using this on the bed sheets again, unless they come with scent free of this stuff.

If it's just like the "vernel cristalli" from Henkel, sold over here the smell is so strong that I needed to wash the towels three times before I could use them again!
I wouldn't ever recomend it!

Funny, Toggles and I were wondering the same... sugar seems a weird choice.   And then there was clay, which sounded like dirt and a good way to wear down washing machine parts.

Also, how does this stuff know when to dissolve?

I have been using the crystals lately, and do like them. I have been using slightly less than the lowest dose. The scent seems relatively powerful. At the end of the cycle I can smell the crystals scent, so it survived through the wash and rinses. When I don't use softener, I normally cannot smell any detergent scent at the end of the cycle.

The flannel sheets we use in winter come out of the dryer very soft and comfy with the crystals. After the load is dry I find that the scent is barely noticeable. I always do 3 rinses in my FL washer, and use a cycle with fast intermediate spins. Also, I spin most things at my washer's top speed, 1200RPM.

It seems logical to me that a vented dryer would reduce the amount of scent left in a load verses a condenser dryer.

Yeah, the flannel sheets came out nice and soft.  I was pleased with that..   I cut back on the amount as well..  I may try the extra rinse next time.

Giving it a try

Just finished a load of towels using the new Purex product. The towels are in the dryer and the neighborhood is being treated to a combination of fabric softiner fragrance and burgers grilling on my JennAire. Will know later this evening how it works.

AWFUL.....call the company and get a refund.......

scent didn't seem bad at first from the washer......thought the dryer would remove more of the scent, after drying was done, seemed minimal......but then later and when clothes were worn, this RANK is all you could smell all over the place, almost gag you to death....could not get rid or away from it......took at least 2 complete washes to get rid of most all of it....

STAY AWAY!!!

I read the label last time at the store......

and I wonder if it softens at all, because the ingredients listed do not mention anything that sounds remotely like any softening I have ever heard of....

I have NO desire at all to try the stuff out myself, but am curious.

I got the FreshSpringWaters in the Blue bottle...seemed like a good idea... light scent from the bottle....but after washed and dried....I couldn't stand it...and I love the scent of softeners lasting after the washing process....but not this one.....

Wished they still made RainBarrel softner.....loved the scent of that one...and that you could use it in either the beginning of the wash or the rinse cycle...

Martin I agree with you my mom used Rain Barrel quite freqently especially on colored clothes. The smell was light and lingered and the clothes were soft.
I have yet to purchase the Purex Crystals and still hesitate to..

Said I would try and report

Use the blue bottle. Seems to perform as advertised. The fragrance lingeres, and lingers, and lingers. I do like the feel of towels that result from this product. With the fragrance problem I will only be using it for towels.
