Purex Fabric Softeners

I went to Kmart to pick up 2 bottles of my favorite softener brand today. I got Mountain Breeze (Blue) and Fresh Scent (Yellow) both for just $7.90 with tax. These are a great value for 100 ounce bottles.

What I love about this softener is that it does not seem to gum up or build up like Downy does. I love the more fluid watery consistancy, and you can't beat the price.

What I also find interesting is that it sports the same Henkel brand as this imported box of Persil. Can't be that bad of softener, eh?

I have tried the Purex detergent as well, but it is not my favorite. Tide TotalCare HE is my favorite HE liquid, next to Tide HE powder.

(I've got the Miele upstairs right now because the basement is still under construction).

Purex softener is not bad stuff, I like the blue, but I stock up when ShopRite has it on sale for $3.99 and usually it's Buy 1 Get 1 Free......

I liked the almond milk & aloe sensitive skin version (not that anyone in our house has sensitive skin...), but I think it might have been discontinued. Worked just fine as a softener, and the scent was a dead-ringer for UK Comfort Pure. The last time I bought it I think it was $2.99 at Target for a 52-load bottle. You gotta like the price!

I like the "Linens and Lillys" version of these...I think that's the name. Smells great, but hard to find. Wal-Mart sold it for it's customary 26 days before it ripped it off the shelves and replaced it with something else :: rolls eyes :: Kroger still sells it though--hadn't noticed the Henkel name...have to check that out.

Of course, it will be 2042 before I use up all the detergent and fab softener that I have...I think I've tried every known brand in the last 6 mos.

i wonder what ever happened the the other and only purex that i knew from a loooooooooooong time ago called "Puerx stapuf" it had a white rabbit on the cover the bottle was light blue and pink cap we used to use that as a preferred fabric softener...

Henkel Purchased Dial Corporation A Few Years Back

Noticed while down at the shops many Purex and other products from Dial now sport the Henkel logo.

What really would be nice is if Henkel started to "export" or import if you will some of the technology from Persil and allow Purex detergents to become an American version, so we don't have to continue to pay Miele USA's highway robbery prices.

I have a bottle of Purex Linen and Lilies softener(green bottle). I'm not wild about it...the scenting was too strong one time when I tried it on sheets. But it has worked OK with towels. Overall, I like it better than Downy--at least, the last time I tried what they could have named "Strength of a Thousand Exploding Perfume" formula.

My favorite softener to date is Ecover. Stuff doesn't get as soft as with other brands, and the scent wasn't one I particularly liked, but dried the scent was the least noticeable.

Yes, it would be nice if Purex could get some Persil technology. Although, I wonder if that will ever happen--Purex seems to be positioned/thought of as "value brand." Readjusting brand position isn't easy. Pricing Purex higher would lose customers who buy because it's cheap, and the people buying better brands would probably say: "I'll stick with Tide--Purex is just cheap detergent!" Making Purex better but keeping the price the same works for me, but probably NOT the corporate bean counters.

Another thought--with a US presence, they could directly import Persil, which would be better. It would be hard introducing a new line, but with the right advertising, it could work. Of course, the contract with Miele would make that hard or impossible. Still, one can dream.

The last box of Persil Megaperls I purchased from my appliance store did not have the Miele sticker on it. Instead the box is completely printed in English and states that it is exported by Henkel, Dusseldorf, Germany. Still I paid $46 for it.

That Has Been Going ON For A Long Time

Nabbed a case of Persil Sensitive Megaperls well over a year or to ago, and the box is written in English and Spanish, with a Henkel logo. Methinks there might be also some French, but would have to check.

Obviously Henkel now packages Persil products and others for the North American market, which would include Mexico and Canada.

Quite honestly am glad to have directions in English directly from Henkel on the box, as opposed to the translated labels Miele USA or whom ever used to slap onto Persil packets.

Persil Prices

Good as the stuff is, still say Americans are still being held by the short and curlies by Miele. Prices for Persil and other Henkel laundry products are really quite insane, IMHO.

Tide HE may not be a one for one swap out for Persil according to many, but it does the job well enough and costs less. Note also that recent EU consumer magazine tests ranked Ariel (P&G's "Tide" in the UK and EU, higher than Persil. Indeed more than a few local EU detergents gave the same or better results than Persil, and cost less.
