Jason, these make wonderful coffee, I use mine a fair bit. They're fun to watch and easy to clean. I didn't think they worked on flat top ranges, but Gadget Gary I think it was, was posting some pictures of his pots and stuff and I learned that I was incorrect in that notion. Keep the heat high enough to keep a good perk going, but not so high that you're boiling a lot away. I usually a brew about a minute per cup, with good results. I use the foldover paper filters in this, as I do in any percolator I use.

Gadget Gary ....

Yes...Your info is correct...They work perfectly on the stovetop...Just get them boiling and turn down the heat.....
And remember the sisters????????

4, 6, and 9(OMG~!) and yes, on the smoothtop.

Jason, enjoy your 'new' way of making CAW-FEE

I've had percs before, my mom's old GE (that would start out good but then soon became just a fizzle and made bad coffee) and a Presto pot that had a light that came on when it was finished. The Presto worked good up until it floated away. They all made the same hissing and perking noises that everyone loves. I've never experienced a Pyrex perc before. I remember seeing them in the stores and begged my mom to get one but no dice.

New versions

There's still a version of the Pyrex perc out there but it has a plastic basket, top and handle. Just a shadow of what it used to be. What I'm getting is the real thing.

Does anyone here own a Farberware Coffee Robot? Now THAT looks sweet!
