What my kitchen might have looked like originally (kinda)...

Just for fun, this is a picture of a kitchen from a similar 1962 ranch house to ours with its mostly original kitchen, which has since been torn down (sigh)! Our house originally had a GE brand Electric Oven and cooktop I have been told (I have no idea of the color).

Can anyone identify this wall oven and cooktop? The cooktop looks to be gas grills. Our cabinets are now stained darker (yuk, blast the former owner), with handles, and kinda rearranged (not in a good way) due to the removal of the Wall Oven and the addition of a range where the cooktop was, and the tile is gone, replaced by crummy drywall (double YUK!!). Had I known they were going to tear that house down, I would have salvaged the kitchen and appliances but it happened really fast (one day the house was there, next all the walls were gone). I did find out from the demolition crew that the appliances were working fine but sold for scrap. GRRRRR...

I would guess (hope) they are not going to waste time and mo

Maybe not.  First of all, there are gas wall ovens that are self cleaning, my mother bought a Kenmore (Electrolux) that self cleans just last year.  It was on the expensive side, $1200.

Around here there has been a lot of hype over natural gas from the Marcellus shale.  While the news is about all the (really tough) jobs in the industry I think we will see more advertising to use gas appliances like they had in the past.  I think an "All Gas House of Savings" will be a selling feature again.

Oh, and I hope they use the older Caloric logo, toward the end, they were almost hiding the name.  Perhaps they will be high priced, like Viking?

Pink Caloric Wall Oven

I am renovating my kitchen shortly. I have a pink caloric wall oven with a matching stove top that I am looking to get rid of. The oven and stove top both work great but the panel on the oven does not light up and the only knob that works is the oven temperature knob. Also the hinge on the right is broken but I think the hinge fell down inside the oven somewhere. I still use this oven and stove top almost everyday. Please let me know if you are interested and what you would be willing to pay for both. Attached is a picture.
