raising water level in new Speed Queen top loader

Does anyone know how to raise the water level in my new Speed Queen top loader? I love the machine, but hate the max water level the "water police" have chosen for us. I think the level is adjustable, but I don't have a clue as to how....

I know that's been posted on here many times. Try using the search option on here and you're bound to run into a post on it. But from what I remember, you access it through the back of the panel, there's a screw on the water level selector I THINK, I wouldn't quote me on that. Then you adjust it to where you want it. I think most people said a 1/4 turn. I'll see if I can find that post for you.

Ok...

Here's one post on it. It's like 2.5 turns of the screw. I'm pretty sure there's a post about where it is exactly, you'll have to look through them. I'll try to find another.

Speed Queen Washers (current models)

I understand a few members have purchased new Speed Queen top load washers in which the water level seemed a little low. An adjustment can be made to increase the water level to what a normal user would expect to see. My question is how low was the lowest water level before the adjustment was...

Inside the Speed Queen Control Panel...

I ended up making some additional water level adjustments to my Speed Queen yesterday as I was fixing my dryer vent. I had the camera handy, so I snapped a few pics for those interested. The washer was disconnected from electrical power, of course. :) Enjoy.

I have been off line for about a year due to pc issues, but am back on now....
Thanks so much for the pics and directions for the water level issue. I'm going to adjust mine this weekend. I knew I could count on this site to resolve the issue......the water level is the only negative about this machine

Not a problem Chuck I myself don't have a Speed Queen, but I've seen enough posts about the factory set water level issue to know there's a fix to the problem. Glad to know you're back on with us! I was glad to have helped

Hi Chuck,

My apartment building's laundry room has installed these after having top-loading Maytags that had a second rinse AND a spray-rinse.

Even with the drain hose near the level of the machine's backslash the machines only get rid of 4 to 5 inches of wash water while also spinning, and then fill for the deep rinse.

To me that is really disguising and unsanitary. I can't ever use those machines or my private parts will be on fire from detergents and chemicals residues.

Good thing I had intended to run the machine twice for the mattress pad I washed in there. I basically only wanted to use a "real" gas dryer as my put-put electric one that works on 110v would never really get the middle part fully dry.

I am thrilled that you like your machine and that the "water police" at least let your tub drain completely between the wash and the rinse.

from what i have seen and heard from others who have Speed Queens, there must be a problem with the one you used...too bad the people in charge will probably never fix it...

That or some ridiculous setting available with the electronically controlled commercial machines that is marketed as a "water saver".

That would be Speed Queen's new "Energy Saver Cycle" available on their commercial TL machines. The machine dumbs down wash temps a LOT (When you select hot, it fills halfway with hot water and halfway with warm water kind of thing.), then it does the wash cycle, drains about half of the wash water, fills back up, agitates for another 5-6 minutes, then drains the water away while spraying fresh water on the clothes until the tub is empty. The machine then spins and is done.

Speed Queen markets this cycle as using only 23.7 gallons of water. My Alliance coin-op has rotary controls and has a total of 6 cycles. Normal, Permanent Press, and Delicate with a full wash and rinse like a normal machine and the same three cycles again with the energy saving feature. The use of liquid fabric softener is not recommended...

Ah the new commercial Speed Queens.....

Yeah I remember when I first used one of those, I thought the machine had malfunctioned. I'm not fond of that cycle at all, my clothes felt like there was soap residue on them and just didn't feel right altogether. As much as I love the new Speed Queens, the way the commercial ones are set up, just don't jive with me.

Well, remember when Whirlpool had the toploaders that eliminated the deep rinse and did the spin and spray rinse thing? That didn't last long....
