This is absolutely the worst thing
I can just imagine what it would be to go through having "furry loved ones" you love so dearly get poisoned to death, especially when you are doing something as nurturing as FEEDING them.
I had some of the Iams pouch dog food in the hose, about 10 packs, and I just threw them out. Did not want to bother with the recall and all that B.S. Wouldn't have been worth the trouble.
I sent Iams a really nasty email about how they pose themselves as a premiere pet food line; that certainly is reflected in their prices; when lo and behold they're made of the same crap, from a huge processing plant (Menu Foods) in Texas, as all the other store-bought brands.
I have decided to start buying my pet food at a specialty store like Petco. There, the employees can guide you as to the best food for your pets.
I used to have a sweet doggie named Oz who died almost two years ago at 15 years of age. He was a long-haired terrier who had terrible skin allergies and hair problems. We finally were able to clear that up with a holistic diet of raw chicken and vegetables (we were referred to a holistic health pet specialist by a friend who had had similar problems with his dog), along with high-grade supplements such as "The Missing Link."
Once we got him off the processed food, he was fine. Made an amazing turnaround until he started going downhill simply due to old age, at 15 years of age. Our holistic adviser said that many pets are allergic to wheat and corn, and most commercially prepared food products are loaded with it.
