Raytheon Speed Queen

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

there are plenty of vids on YT for these machines.....nothing spectacular....

the four port pump setup on these seemed to cause an issue, water is pulled from the bottom of the tub, and even though the pump reverses, by its design, any water that falls into the hose during spin is pumped back onto the load....

also not allowing the spin to reach full speed, and causing premature wear on the belt...

the machine functioned better once I clamped off the filter hose....

later models had a different self clean filter setup, and a two port pump....

Thanks for the video, Martin!

Strangely mine has an electric pump. I didn't see it, but Kevin (Revvinkevin) did. He didn't mention anything about being a 4 port pump or having a diverter valve.

Mine has a neutral drain after the "dramatic pause" and the spin kicks in when the tub is almost empty. It's enough to spread the clothes. The spray rinse starts meticulously when the pump starts cavitating. The water pressure here is absurdly high and I can notice the spin slows down with the water, like a suds lock, but when the spin rinse ends, more 10 seconds and the tub is empty again.
Today I washed one of those synthetic fleece blankets that was full of dog hair. I noticed it did a great job getting rid of the hair, the blanket was perfectly clean (and no hair) and the drain water was full of lint.

I always considered Speed Queen a boring washer, but now that I'm using the ultra-mate I fell in love with it. It's simple and straight forward and gets the job done, period.

I found a pair on Facebook marketplace for $300 (gas dryer). They're in absolutely perfect condition and very clean. Unfortunately now I can't spend any money and I'm feeling miserable because of that. Last night I even dreamed about them.
