Reading the Lustron thread made me think of this.

I saw a documentary a few years back about these homes,at the time they could actually be purchased at Macy's Herald Square.I recall they had the General Electric kitchen center,(forgive my ignorance as I don't know the proper name)pictured in thread #20695. I remember this as they interviewed a family who had purchased a home brand new and one of their gripes was the washer/dryer combo never worked right. Unfortunatly there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the web.BTW you can actually see the washer/dryer combo in one of the pictures.

That Docu:

Was by Jake Gorst, who also did an article about Leisurama houses in our magazine's (Modernism) Summer 2008 issue. I think the article's still available in the online edition. Back issues are available through the website as well, so you could have a copy of the print edition (nicer to read, I always think). Here's a link:

That Modernism mag looks interesting. I'm not sure if I've seen it on the book racks here but then I don't often look at the racks.
BTW I saw a most interesting B&O 1996 stereo console the other day along with some other beautiful danish furniture and I though.. now you'd like that..

Petek:

It's a great mag; I'm very happy to be working for it. The upcoming issue will have a major story on Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Museum in New York, and another on the Festival of Britain. That plus our regular coverage of books, new products, midcentury houses, and a lot more. For anyone who's into midcentury, it's a real treasure trove of info.
