Hey fellas,
As some of you may remember Volvoguy87 (Dave), elginkid (Wes), and I (Will) have been rebuilding my Maytag 702 set off and on (mostly off) for a few years during my annual visits. We made great progress this trip... we replaced the damper pads, finished rebuilding the transmission, and got the machine put back together. Afterwords we tested it with a hose and it washes and drains like a dream. We were so close to being done, but fell 3 issues short on the washer and still have one problem left on the dryer.
1) We need to replace the light transformer. We have one of these. I just ran out of time to get it done. It doesn't look too hard.
2) I couldn't get the replacement spline to work in the original agitator. I went to a wringer washer repair in rural Ohio and got 2 varieties of splines they carried. Sadly neither worked! They just wouldn't fit the machine. Any suggestions? We borrowed a turquoise one, but I really like the black. I was thinking to find a newer black agitator to just use instead. Any suggestions?
3) The water valve is shot. Looks like I need a rebuild kit or to replace the valve. Any ideas on where to get a rebuild kit or advice on rewiring the machine for a modern replacement?
4) Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a de702? On a previous visit I replaced the timer and hooked everything back up the way it was. For some reason the door switch won't stop the drum, however it will turn on the light. Thanks everyone.
I've attached a few pictures of volvoguy on today's adventure.
