Replacement cookware handles --Club Aluminum

I have a set of Club cookware from the 50's that is in good shape but most pots and pans are missing the handles, well glass lids too but I have lids that will fit.
On ebay the handles are on the pricey side, Amazon has some that are marked "universal" at more reasonable prices. Anyone have any experience with the universal handles?

I do not know how many old hardware stores are left in this country, but I have found kitchen treasures in them, usually at the back of bottom shelves and drawers. I have found handles for pressure cookers & cookware, three part pressure regulators for Presto cookers and canners, handles and filters for coffee makers and all kinds of things that brought joy to my heart. If you have time and a willingness to search, you might find your handles in old hardware stores. The neat thing about housewares and parts for them is that they tended to get overlooked by the usually male staff and just sit there collecting dust. As late as 1977, I found a Pyrex Flameware 1.5 qt. saucepan, a  Revere Ware Designer's group 1.5 qt saucepan, and a Teflon-lined MirroMatic 4 qt. pressure cooker in a hardware store at the intersection of Cheshire Bridge and La Vista in the shopping center with Happy Herman's. Flea Markets are another good spot to look through stock of sellers who have bought out the stock of old stores, although a lot of that merchandise is now on eBay.

In my area there is one old hardware, a few years back they held a yard sale with stuff dating back to the early 20th century. They might be a good option, but they are a ways away.

I did buy one on Amazon, needs a little surgery, will try to make it work. I still need 2 more so I will hit that hardware -good idea!

You may already know this, but if not, here's a small tip:
If the item you want is on ebay, but all of them are too expensive, just add every single one of them to your watch list and wait.

Sometime not too long ago, eBay added the ability for sellers to send offers to prospective buyers - the reverse of the existing "make offer" option that buyers had.
So if you add the item to your watch list, the sellers will all be able to see this. And if any of them are particularly motivated to get something off of their shelf, they will send you an offer.

I've saved a ton of money shopping this way - sometimes you add an item to your watchlist, and within a day have an offer for 30-50% off. I did this for a collectable Christmas ornament last year, I think I put 40 or so of them in my watchlist, and got 25+ offers from sellers.

Yes, I've noticed that. It's worked out for me on a few items, will take the suggestion and add them to my watch list.

There's still a dime store in downtown Owosso, plus there's one (Bur-Ler's) in Warren on 9 mile.

In Flint we have Knoblock's Hardware been around for close to 100 years, might make an effort to go there.

I will say other than getting a longer screw the $9 handle from Amazon is not too bad, but prefer the look of the original handle.

Slightly OT Saladmaster handles

You can pay a pretty penny for Saladmaster handles on eBay--both new and used. Even the faded, distressed ones sell. You can also buy new ones directly from Saladmaster for 1/3 the price of a new one on eBay or about the same price as an old, worn out one.

Sarah - good to hear from you, it's been a while. I know you had a lot going on, hope all is well....

The universal handle from Amazon is mounted after buying a slightly longer screw, and it seems OK. solid feel, even has a nice thumb pad to help the grip.
