You may recall I e-mailed P&G via Tide.com to inquire if Tide Simply Clean & Fresh would be available in pod form. This is the somewhat bewildering reply I received today:

Thanks for contacting Gain, Eugene.

I’m sorry your Gain Fling didn’t dissolve. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention, and I’m sharing your report with the rest of our Gain Team. If you haven’t done so already, I hope you’ll try the product again with the following tips for best results:
Always add Gain Flings to the drum of the washing machine BEFORE loading the clothes.
Front loader machines - place the Flings at the back of the washer drum FIRST; then add garments.
Top loader machines - place the Flings in the washer drum FIRST; then add garments.
Never place the Flings in the dosing drawer or dispenser drawer
Do not use a "delicate" cycle for heavy loads.
Do not use a quick cycle of less than 30 minutes.
Switch to a warm water setting during the winter months or whenever water is exceptionally cold.
Do not overload your washer. Overloading may cause the Flings to get trapped inside fabric folds.
Be sure to store the product in a cool, dry area, and close the package after each use.
To dissolve the dried Flings:

First, DO NOT PULL ON GARMENT, if pulled the garment may tear.
Second, SOAK the garment in hot water (the longer the better- 1 hour) to help the film dissolve.

I hope this is helpful. Since your satisfaction means a great deal to us, I would like to send out a $15 Visa debit card as soon as you reply with your name and address. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery.

Thanks again for writing.

Well, you got your answer . . .

. . . if you weren't sure they would have any interest in responding to your inquiry.

Perhaps you need to write and express your dissatisfaction with Gain Flings (whatever those are) and they may respond with information on new Tide products.

I Feel Your Pain:

I recently emailed P & G about my dissatisfaction with the narrower paper width of Charmin. My missive included these two sentences:

"The new, narrow width of the product is not sufficient to protect the larger hands of a man. Trust me, you do NOT want to know how I came by this information."

I went on to say that I could not see myself buying Charmin again until the former width was restored.

Now me, if I were in charge of a toilet-paper company's complaint department and read that, I'd be falling all over myself apologizing, even if there was nothing that could be done.

P & G? They sent me a cents-off coupon. For Charmin!

P.S.: The coupon went into the round file, and I'm keeping my word about not buying the product.

Oh Frigilux, I have tried

to steer you away from the nebulous pods.

Where oh where did I go wrong?

Well, I tried. I worried and fretted.

Deep down, I knew nothing good would come from this.

Now take that 15 buck visa card and go getcha some old fashioned detergent!

Don't encourage more laundry pain, stay away from pods whose name is Gain!

Ralph--Gain Flings are that brand's pod. The original message must have been strongly worded. I can't imagine they send $15 to everyone who reports an undissolved pod.

It's funny that I'd be involved in a mix-up like this when I'm a proponent of the format who has never experienced a problem with staining or undissolved casings!

Ben-- Do you suppose there's a pod version of me sending bogus emails to corporate giants? I think I'll wear my rosary to bed, tonight, LOL. And no, I won't take advantage of their cash offer. I can't afford the karmic damage.

:-)

Wonder

If you can still make use of them by dissolving one in a quart of hot water, and add to the machine after it's partially full of water? At least til there used up and gone.

The new, narrow width of the product is not sufficient to protect the larger hands of a man.
A workaround is pull 3 sheets or whatever quantity is needed to fold a 2nd layer at a slight angle from the 1st for more width.

DADoES:

I have enough to worry about without having to engineer my toilet-paper folding just so. Making a usable product is P & G's job, and since they aren't doing it, I've taken my derriere elsewhere.

Pg

What i would like to know is why doesn't PG make a high efficiency version of mountain spring???? Or better yet why don't they make all of their detergents for BOTH???? Tide simply is universal but their "premium" line is not??? Makes me scratch my head!!!!

This is the same P&G that claimed . . .

. . . consumers were overwhelmingly pleased with the redesigned PUR pitcher filter (WITHOUT the Automatic Safety Monitor usage indicator which was replaced by a "change the filter" sticker for the pitcher's or dispenser's lid) and faucet filter (now bereft of the automatic shutoff feature at the end of the filter's life).

They sure didn't ask ME how I felt.

The issue is corporate reliance on outsourcers

What you have experienced with these incorrect responses to email inquires is the new trend of major companies using both domestic and international outsource employees to handle customer service inquires both email and online chat.

These employees are NOT employed by the company . They receive little training and typically will work for 2 to 3 companies at the the same time. They have no ownership or knowledge of products or services they assist you with and are typically paid at or little above minimum wage .

My soon to be ex company is now using domestic outsource customer service with disastrous results. It's all cost savings driven .
