Marvelous Color!!!

I love the fact that you were daring enough to use the updated color! Looks wonderful in your kitchen. I also like how you're already collecting frost - just like my 1958 GE Combination! I did the opposite of what you did; mine was originally pink and I went to white. Here is a pic of my restored GE in the "almost finished" kitchen...

Thanks guys! It was alot of fun restoring this. Much less work than restoring a washer, thats for sure!!

I found the original replacement gaskets for this fridge. It made the reassembly a breeze! Plus having my boyfriend here to hold the doors up as I rehung them. No scratches!! YAY!!

Kelly, you are too kind. I simply find that if you show trust in people, no matter what background they may be from, they will show you unconditional love in return. I have been blessed in so many ways over the years from the people I have connected with in this inner city neighbourhood. I have always believed that it's not where a person comes from, it is where they are going that really matters. And I am sorry to say that I have lost a few along the way, even though I did all I could. They are still my kids however, and I will always love them all. And they know that.

On to the owners manual....

Here we go... This will be fun!

Revised defrosting instructions....

I thought this was "cute" Wonder how many 1948 combos had the refrigerant leaked out from a knife hole in the freezer coils? The first set of defrost instuctions made me cringe...

Hi Ben, I think they tried to make use a what space they had in the original design by: moving the butter compartment to the centre of the door, installing a wire basket in place of the small shelf/rack on the upper right, and put the ice tray racks together at the top of the freezer. Maybe your bins are a bit larger too?

I do LOVE these early combos too! So much style, and so well built!
I thought Timot would not agree to keeping this upstairs, but he loves it too! Now to find a basement fridge with an icemaker.... <:

Where, O-WHERE??? Please post a link, if you can!

We really need a new gasket for our '49 Westinghouse, and I've tried all sorts of substitutes, and none have worked.

His number is 260-422-2788. I cannot say that he can do you any good, but he will sure take the time to try and help you.
