Hey guys, I'm new over the site because I'm interested in repairing and keeping a Kenmore front load washer and dryer set. Washer model is 417.430422 and dryer is 417.93042201. They're the EcoCare System set with pedestals. My mom is interested in getting a newer set so I thought about restoring this one and keep them as collection or something, they've been awesome machines and have been working properly for around 13 years.

Ricardi..

If you like these machines and want to keep them working,
then go ahead and address any issues they may have. But don't
wait too long. These models were discontinued several years ago
and parts will eventually be harder to get.

I have model 417.39012891 and the matching dryer that I bought new
in 1999. I rebuilt the washer 2 years ago, bearings, and still
use as my main washer. Love the simplicity of these machines.

Hi bill, what I like about these machines are that they're so easy to operate and they bring pretty good results to be honest. It's good to know that you rebuilt the washer, I went surfing online for the parts and made a discovery; I went to Sears Parts website (because my machines are Kenmore brand) and then compared prices with new parts on Amazon. You can actually buy a bearing replacement set for $50 bucks and avoid the purchase of the whole rear outer tub part. As for other parts I made a comparison on prices from Sears website and new parts from Amazon (some of these parts are designed to be better than the original ones) and you can see a pretty good saving on the total cost of the project. Some of the parts I put on the list are optional to change for the moment (like the spin basket) because the machine hasn't got any spider bracket problems yet.

Note: I will attach the bearings amazon link and the price comparison table I made. (not on amazon label is for parts not available on amazon or have a higher price than the original ones from Sears).

Here's the picture of the machines.
I've to work on the paint of both machines and pedestal because of rust, they were kept outside for a year and the dispenser has a small leak so the washer is getting rust. Otherwise both, washer and dryer, are in good working conditions
