The Whirlpool Imperial is just too kewl. My grandparents had one, either identical or very similar. I remember the pushbutton lid, and that it would pop open at the end of the cycle. I *don't* remember any lights, probably they no longer were working.

Wow!.....that WP Imperial looks great all lit up!!! IMHO this is WP at their peak in the 50's.Classy looking machine.
The KM's are also great too.To all us WP/KM fans,we have certainly seen our share of beauties over the years.Too cool!

Rick you sure do have some beautiful washers! And that 1930's Premier Duplex Upright looks really cool--is that the vacuum you use in your house?
I have to hand it to you--your Whirlpool Imperial is one of the best-looking washers I have ever seen (of course I'd take any of them)!

I am glad you like the washers.The 56'WP is my favorite!
The Premier Duplex upright was a wedding gift given to my grandparents in 1922. My grandmother used it until the late 1940's,replacing it with a Kenmore Imperial upright.She then gave the Premier to my mom at that time.Mom used it until she got shag carpet in the early 1970's,when the Premier was retired to the attic. While cleaning out my parents attic after they passed away in the 1990's I found the Premier,and restored it about 1998.I even had the metal castings polished at a metal restoration place. Yes,I use that vacuum to clean my home Austin,just as I use all the rest of my vintage things.I do have a Eureka from the 1980's that I clean the basement with however.

Very cool stuff, Rick. Yep that Whirlpool Imperial is a real beauty. Is that the original agitator? My godmother had that model and I thought it had a black agitator cap. Love that Premier that was your grandmother's. It's great that you restored it. Although I do not have the actual original machines, I have the same vac models that were in my family when I was an appliance crazy kid - an Electrolux E that my mom had and a Kirby 516 and an Airway Sanitizer that my one grandmother had and a Universal tank that my other grandmother had. Its so much fun to use them!

Seeburg 1960 all lit up! And a little out of focus!
The Whirlpool, I love that classic waterfall filter. The turq kenmores were the exact same machines a secretary and her husband had. They moved to Dallas when I got transferred here in 1986. She used to malign her old Kenmores all the time when I talked about appliances. You can imagine my reaction when I walked thru her backdoor the first time I visited them, which I did intentionally to see the washer & dryer. I loved the timed dispensers and the perm press cycle. That was the very last orignal owner Kenmore pair of that vintage I saw. They got rid of them in like 1992 or 1993 for a DD pair. I mourned. She was happy to have a new pair. I tried to talk her into having both worked on and keep them going vs. a shredmore. But she wouldn't listen.

Real cool stuff - on the Whirlpool washer I didn't realize that model had a recirculating filter. I thought that came after this series.

OK Don, This Victorian stuff is for you! All the lighting upstairs 1920. I climbed on a ladder while Rick was in the bathroon and tried to get it down for ya Don, but I think he put loctite on the screws!
