RIP Billy Mays

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I just saw a Billy Mays commercial for the patch it pen on television. I guess the family is going to let him carry on. Don't the stations usually pull shows when somebody in it dies?

When I was growing up there used to be these old ladies that used to go to funerals. Never mind that they didn't know the deceased, they just went to see how "nice" the deceased looked.
My mother told me that this was quite common in the past.

When one of my aunts died and after the funeral everyone that attended went to a banquet hall for a dinner. I was horrified! I always thought that funerals are solemn occasions and should not be used to have a family reunion or a party. I think a more proper method to show respect is like the Jewish sitting shiva.

amd please, no dancing in the aisles, eh?

~When one of my aunts died and after the funeral everyone that attended went to a banquet hall for a dinner.

In my religion/ethnic group a dinner after a funeral is quite common. The memorial dinner has a fixed and symbolic menu. The priest is supposed to wear WHITE vestments (of joy) that the soul has left the body (a burden slowing down its vibration) and has rejoined with G-d.

While not a party (or an excuse to drink as in other ethnic groups) there is a bit of celebrating the deceased's accomplishmets, joys, and recognizing sacrifices and for family and loved ones.

My own father wants a ball/dance after his passing complete with a belly-dancer. The jury is still out on that one!

~A post announcing a man's passing has turned into a how to course in picking up men.

Uhn just as the females are hormone-driven so too are the males.

Here is my ridicuous opinion:

The female drive / instinct is to find a suitable sperm-donor and DNA for her offspring. Then the instint is to find the best possible male to support her, protect her offspring and further her goals to this end. (Not necessarily the same man, but the ideal situation when it can happen).

Males throughout the planet of many species are programmed to spread their seed far and wide.

Herein lies the conflict. Females are following their instincts and are rewarded by society for marriage and motherhood via weddings, wedding-showers and baby-showers. Males on the other hand in order to be civilized and acceptable to society must not discuss or act upon their hard-wiring to plug every hole and crack in every wall. Au contraire, they must, in order to be considered evolved and civilized and acceptable in the eyes of society, reform, reshape and remold their instinct to be like the female. Here is why straight men possibly die so young. They are going against their basic hardwiring and instincts. This makes even less sense (earlier death) when you consider a male's reporductve system is so relatively simple and uncomplicated compared to the female. In theory the female should go first. No?

Perhaps staright men are insanely jealous of gay men who may actually may be more mascualine in terms of following basic programming than they are-- many have more and better sex than straignt men ever can. We don't have to go through the complicated and unnavigable, uncharted female mind to get physical.

Just my thoughts. If anyone feels the need to flame me, feel free to send a private email with all the realy good and juicy scathing stuff!

UPS Men!!!

My UPS guy could be Billy Mays sans beard! Hottimus maximus! Funny, though, I ran into him at the supermarket and didn't recognize him at once - in his "civvies".

I dated a UPS guy for a little while. They actually have "grooming requirements", mustaches can't be over the lip. Only the guys who drive the big trucks (tractor-trailers or boxes, not vans) are allowed to have beards. AND they have "set ups" to see if any of the guys fall for fulfilling their porno dreams with come-on customers! I was surprised their union would let UPS get away with such.

Is it just me or do FedEx and DHL men appear slightly skanky?

female vs male life expectancy

It's true that the female reproductive system is far more complex than that of the male. Also that childbirth is a life threatening matter for the woman, and at one time it was the major killer of women (before modern medicine etc).

I think women tend to outlive their husbands for a few reasons, including:

1) Lower blood pressure/less heart disease. All that testosterone stresses out the circulatory system. Men seem to live faster, hotter, and burn out quicker.

2) Probably more men smoke and drink heavily than women, although it's not as if a lot of women don't do the same, it's just not as socially acceptable.

3) Women have the XX chromosomal pattern. Men have the XY chromosomal patter. The Y chromosome is actually a truncated X chromosome. This means that men have less chromosomal redundancy than women, which in turn means that they are less able to repair chromosomal damage in that region of the X chromosome that is missing on the Y chromosome, and in turn that means they are more prone to certain types of cancer.

4) Women are less likely to be exposed to various occupational hazards, including physical and chemical hazards.

Balancing out this is a study that shows more retired white males are happier than their wives. It's thought this is because the wife has basically taken care of her husband throughout his working life. When he retires, all of a sudden he's free of his major burden - his job - but his wife still has to take care of him, perhaps more so since he's home much more of the time. I suspect however that the widows get the last laugh.

It's all a matter of perspective, and it's the same among all animals: from a female's viewpoint, she makes males jump through mental and physical hoops simply to find the best mate and progenator that she can. It's just nature, and I don't believe most (or even many) heterosexual men are jealous of gay men. From their view, gay sex isn't even sex, it's mutual masturbation (this opinion is held even by some religions).

Put to the test.....

this is no only about a ordinary ma passing, it about a HOT BEAR DADDY and all his glory...there's just a few things ONE would do if you ever met him...

NOW....when were riding in the car, and I'm gropping and playing with my guys tool, and you look over and see what's happening...DO YOU...show a fear of shock?...keep staring?...wish your wife would do that to you?????

no woman knows what a man wants or feels, only another guy does...I know what he wants!...when he wants it!...how he wants it!...where he wants it!...what arouses him!....what makes his toes curl and scream in delight!...and what relaxes him!!!...

I usually start with warm almond oil and a full massage....when was the last time you took care of your man on a daily basis....yeah, he may be happily married...but is he SATISFIED?....and never have we ever held back the deed, just to get the other one to do what is commanded!!!

20 years married this year...and were still practicing to make it better....and PRACTICE makes perfect!!!!!!!

I have two straight married buddies....who would give up the world, their wife, and the straight life to have someone like me, their jealous of my mate, they think were on top of the world and have it all....2 people in unconditional love, making it work for the better of ourselves, for better or worse, richer or poorer, I'd never give him up...do you take vows seriously as the day you took them....till death do you part.....?...I have been with a few married straight guys, as many have, you think one ever complained that his wife was better, that I was better at it than her, or could I come over and teach her how it's done...

one last thing....if you don't take care of your man, someone else will.....if I wanted your man, and he was worth taking, I would take him in the snap of my fingers....BET ON IT, SISTER!

Many guys out there are HOT...and they know it and flaunt it!...and if they don't?...someone should tell them....

I can bring home the bacon...and fry it up in the pan....
a lady so to speak in the kitchen and a whore in the bedroom, or where ever else may tickle his fancy....how many guys out there would turn this whole package down?

now it's time to step off the box of tide...hubby wants chocolate cake from scratch...off to the kitchen I go....lol
satisfaction doesn't only happen in the bedroom!

I can hear you guys already!!!!

"I Can Not Believe "

"A post announcing a man's passing has turned into a how to course in picking up men."

Well DUH!!

Sex = fun :-)
Death = sad :-(

I'd rather talk about fun things than sad. I don't quite understand the race to announce the Grim Reaper. I see the news. I get the paper and or visit Yahoo. What's the perverse pleasure in announcing deaths? It's sadness. I see sadness everyday. I come here for fun. If someone here is going through hard times then that's another matter. I feel that we are a family of sorts and are happy to help each other in any way we can. I just don't understand the need to post every time a well-known person dies.

I'm not angry... Just curious. Feel free to enlighten me :-)

Hey Allen,

I've always known there to be some kind of a get-together after a funeral. This was the norm when I grew up in Buffalo, when my parents both died in western PA, and here in Southborough, MA. I believe it's more of a celebration of the decedant's life as much of the time is spent re-telling stories involving him or her.

Yeah, sitting shiva is respectful, traditional, and nice in its own right. But I'll take sitting around telling stories, many times funny, about the loved one. We've had some great laughs and great times with family and loved ones doing this, while still respecting the lost loved one.

After all, depending on your belief, aren't they in a much better place than those of us still on Earth???

Chuck

The closest friend I ever had was killed in an car crash in 1998. I was unable to make it to his service, but about a week later I met his mom and another friend at his gravesite.

Within ten minutes all of us were laughing hysterically, retelling stories of things he did and said over the years. He was quite a character.

At first I thought it was really strange that his mom could laugh so soon after the death of her son, but she's a devout Catholic so I think that had something to do with it. She really does think he's in a better place now.

Well, let me just say that after watching only ONE installment in the "Pitchmen" marathon last night, the bloom on the Mays rose has faded quite a bit for me. He was way too egotistical, he looked almost jaundiced, and knowing what we all know now, not all that healthy.

They showed a clip of him from 20+ years ago pitching something and I found him to be way better looking with his natural hair color and he was so calm and collected it was refreshing to see him acting normally.

I admire what he achieved and his passion for doing right by the people who invested everything they had into a product they hoped would make them rich, and it's clear he was a good man with a conscience. That is not the impression I presume any of us gets from Vince, the smarmy Sham WoW creep.

Ralph

Hey Ralph,

Creep is a good descriptor for Vince. He's certainly not someone who makes me want to trust him, Mr. "in the next 20 minutes... we can't do this all day" Sham WOW!
