What a talent...
and her death is a terrible tragedy.
My thoughts are certainly with her fabulous mother, Vanessa Redgrave, her husband, Liam Neeson, and her two boys.

Quite a tragic outcome to what seemed like a relatively mild accident. Must watch The Handmaid's Tale again.

I did not know this until recently but,

Wasn't the accident per se, but the type of injury (head), that caused the sad death of this young woman.
Basically any motion or injury that causes the head to sharply move fowards and or backwards can cause the brain to bounce about and or hit the skull. When this happens there can be damage to parts of the brain including the blood supply. Because the damage may only occur at one part of the brain at first, the other parts may seem to work perfectly, which is why Miss. Richardson was reported to be acting "fine" right after the injury and while still in Canada.
These sort of accidents are the rationale behind wearing protective head gear, including helments for many sports and other things that can cause a fall and or head injury. Bike riding, roller blading, horseback riding, ice skating and so forth fall under this category.

And, that's why one does not necessarily want to be in Canada when having an accident like this. No flames necessary. I'm Canadian on my father's side, and we lost his brother and sister thanks to the inadequacies of the Welland, Ontario medical system at that time.

Paramedics were immediately on the scene of this accident and were dismissed by Richardson. Let's get our facts straight here. Canada's health care system has its share of problems, but to claim Richardson's death is indicative of a systemic problem is beyond ridiculous IMO.

After all she didn't hit a hard object, nor anyone else, and probably felt more embarassed at her fall than anything.At those times one doesn't want to create a fuss, does one?

Tremblant is a beautiful, well equipped and posh ski resort with excellent medical and paramedics, about an hour from Montreal. Brain injuries are hard to present, there are no nerves in the brain matter itself, like a muscle injury or rib injury which hurts like hell and you scream for medical attention.
I believe there was also medical speculation that Richardson might have had a pre-existing condition that made a brain bleed more likely. It's possible that the vast majority of people would have survived a similar knock on the head with no long term effects.
Dale Earnhardt was going about 200 mph before he hit that wall. Not quite the same as a fall on a bunny slope.
Any ski resort, in any country, is likely to in a rural and and far from urban centers and therefore far from the best medical care the nation can offer. It's one of the risks one naturally takes when one goes up country.
