Hi...I often heard of and have seen a few quick videos of the Computer controlled unimatic...no much..
I am curious to know what the modification Robert made are....
I was watching a thread from 2010, of a wash-in, where there was a pic of the computer screen, though the programmation was unclear for me...
I could read a cycle as long as 46 minutes?? IIRC, and some other things/features that I'd like to know/understand more...

This is still super invention Robert made although I have never seen in in person!

I remember him buying a used Whirlpool Duet and he was going to make it a "Super Duet".  

Don't know if he ever got around to making the Super Duet!

If you are searching for a multi-word phrase, be sure to put quotes around that phrase when entrering the text in the search box:

works: "super unimatic"
doesn't work: super unimatic

Just like google if you put quotes around the phrase you are searching for the results will be more accurate.
 
Boolean Logic

Moat search engines support Boolean Logic in their search requests. Using things like "" &, etc. can really give you the EXACT results you are looking for eliminating the stuff that is close, but no potato.

If you do a search on Miele Dealers, you'll get a list of all Miele Dealers everywhere. If you type in:

"Miele Dealers" & "Yourtown,State" you'll see all the ones in your town only.
Using the quotes means exact phrase. If you don't use them you'll also see a list of all things Miele, then a list of dealers. And the dealers may not all be Miele Dealers.

Well, I had well clear the logic in my mind, just didn't know it was called Boolean and the use of some operators, I mean, that google took NOT or RATHER as indications for a search...
As I ignored that you could isolate your search terms this way with the quotes marks... that is so good to know!Thank you!
I wish they taught us these things at school, at my time in this country we didn't get computer lessons yet.......they're now formally included but many schools still miss proper equipment and skilled teachers and continuous cuts of funds from government makes it even more unlikely to be in the future...some schools even miss the money for the heating...no kidding.

I learned using computer on my own, and I was't really interested in them until internet came out (I never got along much with digital stuff, didn't care and didn't need....)..... we got our first computer in '97 IIRC (but internet just in early 2000ish)...nobody taught me anything... and I think I still miss to know/learn many things.... this one was an example...
But I feel blessed I could have access to computers and I know what I know... I think to be a bit more skilled than the average peers here... among people that I know also... then... there are many other young people that still barely knows how to, and of course discover the wonders of the internet...they never had a chance to learn ....my sister's boyfriend is one example, he is in his 30s and until 4 years ago he didn't know almost nothing....he never used a computer before 2009 ...now he has learned thanks to my sister...

I read through the Super Unimatic thread, your cycle programing skill are remarkable to say the least! :D I admire your work a great deal. I think Whirlpool could actually learn a thing or two from the Super Uniamtic.

Have you considered patents to washer improvements or programs. You have a lot of ideas.
 
Thank you for your kind words Chetlaham. No I never had any plans to take the Super Unimatic any further than for my own fun and washing.

I love this stuff, one day when I'm retired I plan on doing more of these kinds of things.

I never bothered with the Super Duet, too much work and too little time. Maybe someday in the future. It would be fun to program in both a Bendix and Westinghouse cycle to choose from on a modern front loader! And yes I'll want the suds level to be half way up the window

I'm currently collaborating with friend on a project along the lines of a replacement control for vintage appliances. We have most of the hardware and interface design planned out and test pieces on hand.

The idea is somewhat of a follow-on from Robert's Super Unimatic. Basically it is a fully programmable computer and interface board with a small color touchscreen display. The entire works is small enough to be easily retrofitted into most any appliance. Reliability and versatility are paramount in our design process. Conceivably with a little programming, it could be used in any machine that uses a mechanical timer.

A thread will be created when the controller is closer to viability. We will need a few machines to Beta test on. Stay tuned!
