While browsing the detergent aisle at Kroger's yesterday, I saw a new brand of detergent (at least new to me). Has anyone used "Roma" detergent? Does it have phosphates? High suds, low suds? Performance? Any knowledge would be apprectiated. The plastic bag it was packaged in says it is made in Mexico.

Tons of Phosphates

Lots of phosphates, like the old powdered laundry detergents, and good for washing vinyl floors. Multi-purpose stuff. Will build a good suds cake in any sort of splasy washer, such as a GE filter-flo, or Maygag AMP.

It does have a fairly strong scent, but rinses out quite well.

Hi Chuck. Roma is sold here in Tucson, AZ. along with Foca, Ariel, and my favorite, Viva. They are all high suds but clean very well. I try to be careful to use a small amount, but if I get too much suds cake, I have commercial carpet de-foamer or you can also use a little fabric softener.

I'm currently using Roma as the detergent du'jour. It is one of of my wife's favorites actually, she loves the scent. I have to agree with Ross though, Viva kicks @$$!

Roma Detergent

I used a cup of Roma in my old westinghouse front loader and had to do 3 rinse cycles to get the suds out it`s a real sudsy detergent. If you have hard water as we do in southern calif. these detergents are the best. The phosphates help soften the hard water and besides that they really clean like no other detergents that i have used .They sell these in all the mexican markets here is san diego and i am hooked on them !!!

Albertson's

Here in Sacramento, you can get Roma and other Mexican detergents at Albertson's. The 99cent store also carries it.

I tend to use it when I really need a deep clean, greasy rags and so forth. I don't think there are any enzymes in there, so you can use HOT water and bleach with it to really get that dirt out. I can see how it could fade fabrics, I usually use it on whites.

Roma is contraindicated for used in frontloaders.

Very good for kitchen use and general cleaning, but lacking in enzymes and detergents needed for really good laundering.

Look for Roma's big brother, Foca, for better performance.

Hi All!
I have a bag of Roma on hand all the time. Cleans well, leaves little or no scent, but I have to rinse twice (Maytag A612). Sudslocks form a lot, not good for wear and tear on the 'Tag.
