ROTO-RACK dishwashers from the sixties

Hi everybody! You now have a new friend from Italy here! I love vintage dishwashers and I have a question for you: does anybody know of a roto-rack front door dishwasher from early sixties (probably 1963-64) which is quite similar to the "REX 3/Dinamic" and to the "Hoover Auto-Jet" models, with a fully rotating circular rack, but which doesn't have any basket for cutlery but single "buttonholes" placed all around the circumference of the rack itself? I once saw a picture of this dishwasher with forks and knives each one inserted in small individual buttonholes! If you know of this particular dishwasher and have a picture or some info for me I would be very grateful! Thanks

WELLCOME! I remember to have seen sometime ago a pic of a DW with circular racks...I don't know if they rotated of not, but if you want I'll soon post that pic...

I honestly don't remeber of any roto-rack dw in american dw history...

I'm not sure the dishwasher I'm looking for was made in US.
It could be European, as far as I know, however if you post the pic you have it would be great!

Either I'm hallucinating, or...

I seem to remember one of my mom's Kenmore's from the mid-1960s had a round upper rack that spun...no fun slots for silverware that I remember, but I have a memory of spinning that top rack when I loaded it! I think that model also had a little side-sliding door that covered up the buttons on the front. She got a later Kenmore that had more buttons, but no round rack, nor fun little slidey-door over the buttons.

Seems I recall seeing this machine on the POD.

I think it was a Hoover dishwasher. Both upper and lower racks were circular and I wondered if they spun around during the cycle. I'd love to see photos of a real one.

I think there was a thread recently in here where somebody had just snagged a vintage Kenmore DW with a spinning rack.

Yup. My mothers Sears Lady Kenmore from 68/69 and her later Kenmore from 73/74 (she moved) [both by D&M BTW] had an upper Roto-rack.

Half the fun was opening the door and watching the upper rack spin 'till it coasted to a stop!

Those machines had more control-panellights and neon indicators than a space-ship! My favorite was the water temperature indicators of:

Wow, does that brings back memories of our 1969 roto-rack MOL KM portable. Ours was avacodo but with green racks and seal.

And I just remembered something. I was out of town yesterday thrifting and I went into a large thrift store and spotted an old Kenmore dw with a bunch of boxes on top, across the other side of the store. Well I continued poking and prodding thru all the old junky small appliances etc and vacuums etc. Found a ne'er used juicer attachment for my Bosch Universal mixer for $10 and a good shape woven vacuum hose, paid for them and left. I totally forgot to go look at the KM dishwasher in my state of euphoria. Now I'm curious if it was a roto rack or not...

maybe BAUKNECHT?

Hi! I found a picture of a roto-rack Bauknecht (Germany) dishwasher from the early sixties which is very similar to the dishwasher I was looking for. Maybe it is the same brand, but this one is a counter-top model while I'm looking for a free-standing model (bigger than this). Does anyone know if Bauknecht was producing this dishwasher in the sixties? Any pictures to share?

Ps: when i was young my grand mother add a rotorack dishwasher but i do not know the year or the brand all i know is the timer was gold with a red arrow pointing to the cycle and it was white.

Italian roto-rack DW

I don't absolutely remember of any domestic rotorack DW here in Iatly... maybe I saw few in some restaurant or where there's a massif employment of the DW.

Here you are anyway a pic I found in one of the several books I have at home... it could be a zanussi...but I'm not sure.

Neither TL DW had a good life here...
Here you are an example: my old neighbours had one...I was fascinating by that lady puttin the dishes from above like if it were a washing machine (I've always loved everything is Top loading!).

It maybe a Candy... or Rex?

Anyway it's not completely TL (like some american Whirlpool TLDW I saw around here) it's "mista"...the top rack is TL and the low rack is a conventionale sliding one.

Hi foraloysius I saw on the old threads posted a few years ago that you had brochures of Bauknecht machines from the sixties! Do you still have them? Could you please post those of the first Bauknecht dishwashers???
