Sad Day... The Passing of La Regina

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that I report the passing of LaRegina on The evening of January 17, 2016 .
After spending her life in a summer home in Hingham on the water in Massachusetts, she came to spend her retired years here in Barnstable on Cape Cod.
Her retirement years were spent with minor ailments such as a clogged line strainer and a small tiny perforation in her sump, I took care of her nursed her and brought her back to health for five years as she serve me faithfully as my favorite one arm wonder.
Last year, she began to re live her symptoms of the perforation in her sump. Finally the the rust perforated her in layers of porcelain and finally through to the outside of her shell.
She did register as a organ donor upon arrival in Barnstable village.
Memories include the sound of her scrubbing away happily and still snapping of her drain valve like an old drag queen on a stage in Provincetown dying to get your attention.
She came to rest early Sunday morning in which with the saddened heart I am immediately started harvesting her organs.
Should anyone have family in the 16 and 17 series, please feel free to contact me for any organ parts to keep your other family members in good health.

Eddie I am looking forward to getting the racks from this machine. When I told my friend's mom about the new racks ,she was elated to say the least. Her machine is still in good shape and they will be in a loving home!

You have blood on your hands, but it's for a good cause.

Disemboweling a loved one is not fun (at least for most people) but take solace in knowing you're doing the right thing. New life will spring from the this. She will live on.

Consider the alternative of abandoning the carcass at the curb for the garbage haulers to heartlessly throw her lifeless body into a crusher. That's not life, now is it?

You sir, have dignity, respect, .....and the ability to catalog hard to attain appliance parts.
We all admire you.

RIP La Regina:

Sorry to hear about her passing Eddie. Black beauty(the KUDS-23) sends her condolences as do I.
She has gone to Hobart Heaven. Maybe she can meet up with the FT-800 from the hotel I worked at. He's kind of cranky at first but a cool dishwasher when you get to know him.

I'm so glad she's happy up in the Big Dishroom in the Sky. Maybe now she and that big Hobart are having a nice Ecolab cocktail and comparing war stories. Family reunions, Christmas feasts, 700 person 5 course banquets, 8 foot high stack of sheet pans you know what retired dishwashers talk about.
Maybe she will get a good laugh about how he taught a cook a good lesson about using a flatware rack when washing his knives, 10 inch French knife bent in a U shape by the conveyor. LOL!

Nice obituary write up. Her sister here in MD is sad to hear of her passing but she is happy to hear that you have saved the good organs incase she has some issue in the future. Your description of the drain valve made me laugh, don't forget the force those gallons of water shoot out with, I have to use my Grandmother's trick of a tall glass under the drain otherwise water shoots up out of the sink.

Yup...

I swear that drain cycle could shoot water at least 25 feet across a room.

I saw in one of Nate's posts he had a Mug or something which is a great idea. My Grandmother used to put a Stainless Scrubby in the sink to break the splash and splatter of the drain cycle.

All that's left to "Harvest" is the Timer and Switch panel.
Everything else is packed and cataloged.

It's really sad she had to go. She'll be missed.
