I know that it sounds impossible BUT time does heal! Take some time to reflect on what you have learned from his life and passing. I have found this to be a comfort as I believe that everything happens for a reason. My grandfathers passing caused me to take a totally new direction in my life. A change which has enriched my life ten fold!! Caring for hime helped prep me for this change and has made me very good at what I now do.

Louis, my condolences to you and your family. It is difficult enough to deal with the death of a parent without it happening so suddenly. While your sense of shock and loss seems impossible to overcome, I hope you can take comfort in the knowledge that things happened so swiftly. My mom just turned 94. She is legally blind and nearly bedridden at this point. Her quality of life is zero, and has been for the past couple of years. At this point, family and friends will feel a sense of happiness and relief that this ordeal is over for her when she passes. So even though it was sudden and unexpected, your dad was spared a long slow decline which is very difficult to witness, let me tell you. I know it's hard to find anything positive in the loss of your dad but as time passes you will understand how lucky he was to go so quickly.

Right now you are likely still numb and your sense of loss is both surreal and overwhelming, but you will soon be reflecting upon and celebrating your dad's life, taking comfort in the knowledge that while he may have left you, he is in a better place. You will always have memories of him that will bring a smile to your face.

This thread is very heartwarming. Although my father's health wasn't very good his death was still very sudden. Threads like this makes this club something special and are of great comfort. It helps dealing with the grief in such times.
